BWAHAHAHAH *takes down notes*
this may be seen as cheating, but hey! the teacher DID allow us to research on the topic to get more ways to defend.. and technically, getting opinions IS researching.
to those in USC before, this is a REED 40 class... Good Lord.... *sigh*
after reading several of ur replies... im begining to think that being in the "yay, PMS!" isnt so bad after all - well, in this scenario that is. If it were a general debate about PMS, i'm YAY PMS all the way.
perhaps answering ones call to nature is not necessarily being 'selfish'. and in the scenario DOES seem to point at only Leslie. it doesnt seem to take into consideration, Joey's perspective, making him the 'greedy' one for asking "prove ur love to me by dropping ur pants!"
keep those opinions coming! u guys are really feeding my mind ---- O.o *processing information*
True point.
Sir was always reminding us "think of the INTENTION, the CIRCUMSTANCE and the person's KNOWLEDGE/voluntariness.
*nod nod* it all makes sense now... based on the circumstance...its not "sinful". PMS isnt evil as it is... it's the intention & situation that make it sin or good/evil.
After all, what he DID mention repeatedly, was that a morally wrong action can ONLY be "evil" IF IT IS INTENDED TO BE EVIL AND THE CONSEQUENCES ARE KNOWN FULLY TO BE EVIL, and yet one voluntarily commits that act.
*nod nod nod*
its up to you... you can decide it either you like it or not...
if youre a "no to pms"
then you probably be still living in stone age!
come on, lets be open minded, if you love someone.. <and its really LOVE> then do it.. just practice safe *** until such time both of you are ready, financially and emotionally.
TS, I'm not sure if you've read my post but I believe facts and statistics would help..especially if you state that adultery is one of the major reasons behind divorce/separation..and adultery results from unsatisfactory s*x life. By having PMS, Leslie would learn earlier if her boyfriend is her ideal s*x partner.
I don't know if this would help. You can start by criticizing the over-emphasis on s-e-x within the moral sphere. It's as if s-e-x is the worst sin there is. I mean, just compare the howls the Catholic Church makes when it comes to sexy shows or RH Bill...as compared to their mute response to terrorism or pedophilia by priests. They can't get their priorities right.
s-e-x is like food. You enjoy it. It's healthy. And like food, it can be bad if you go overboard in either directions: too much or too little. And that's what the religious attitude is towards s-e-x. It's the same attitude an anorexic or a bulemic has towards food.
But of course, this is a risky move, since you'll be the object of hate for saying something critical of religion. Anyway...I'm just sharing this for whatever it's worth.
