Cebu lost its image in tourism i guess...it is getting crowded and more city-ish na way take care sa environment. instead of healthy life style like sports, family orientation to promote values sa tourist as well as cebuano culture ky crime rates are getting at its peak.

ang mga taw ky mura man ug trying hard na au na magpaka-sosyal (sori observation lang) murag di man gyud healthy ang environment oi. m not sure if economy wise na healthy ba pod kaha ang cebu ron!

i can remember the simple clean, serene cebu before! i wish to have it back!

How many of you guys know that right beside LapuLapu is Cordova with its wetlands? This is an untapped tourism goldmine IMHO, and it's right under our noses. Sadly the local government there appears determined to cover it up and build a golf course.

If all CamSur really has that sets it apart is some wakeboarding facilities, it should be easy to become number one again provided the local governments in Cebu cooperate...... hehe, forget it, that's impossible.

When Cebu hosted a few events of the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) back in 2005, people assumed it would boost the island's standing in sports tourism. During the last few years, Cebu tumbled in sports tourism in terms of events and participants attracted, and one of the very few bright spots was the Cebu City Marathon.

Due to the weakened sports tourism, a sports tourism seminar was held last year in an attempt to literally alert the local community.

Meanwhile, CamSur became the hot spot for sports tourism.

It's nice to see Cebu City's officials learning from CamSur

Cebu recorded more than 1.61 million tourists, compared to 1.57 million for CamSur. In comparison with tourist arrivals in 2008, however, the same government report showed Cebu’s tourist arrivals grew by 1.24 percent, compared to 117.25 percent for CamSur.
