    Default CAR DRIFTING ANYONE?

Kita ko last night sa Monster Garage nga ilang gi-update ang Nissan Datsun Honeybee model for drifting - catch this, the engine and transmission was a Nissan Z10 year 2004. Kulba kaayo ang ilang idea... a 2004 car stripped just to upgrade a 30 year old datsun para lang drifting competition. Kurat kaayo.

    HISTORY OF DRIFTING

It is a common misconception among people that drifting is a new "fad" but they is way off the mark. Drifting has been around for a long time and has a deep history to it. Basically it evolved from what is called Touge Running. Before drifting was actually developed young guys would take their race cars up into the mountains (touge basically means mountain or mountain pass) and speed through the turns. At first it was considered dangerous to lose traction through the turns. People tried their best to go as fast as possible without losing control. Basically they were what is called gripping now which is popular with the FF and 4WD camps. Eventually it became "cool" to lose control of your tail and then regain it quickly. It showed the driver had great skill when it came to controlling his car. But it kept evolving, drivers would purposefully lose traction and try to power through the turn with the tail kicked out. Eventually they started taking more then one turn with their tail sliding out and that's basically how it all got started. Now people do it everywhere. City streets, mountain roads, parking areas, boat docks, etc..

Well back in my college years I tried drifting at the back of USC-TC - y'know the dirt road going from science building to the retreat house. It was fun at first with my friend as co-driver......until i crashed into a boulder! Front bumper tore off, headlight and signal light gone and Yeah I know I shouldnt have done it but hey we didnt have class during that period since the teacher was absent - I blame the teacher! :P Anyway I was using a B12 Sentra with GA16S engine - yep carbureted, 12valve 4-banger and front wheel drive! It was more of sliding the tail end using the handbrake with no power slide. It's hard on tarmac but on loose gravel or dirt road its easy and fun (as long as you're on an empty road and dont crash!).

I've also done it on the USC-TC soccer field when no one was watching after it rained in an owner type jeep!

My best advice in the world "Read, read and do more reading of the technical articles and quit buying those mags that show girls in bikinis and selling products."

Hehehe sir.... I think you need to get your 411 straight . READ the TECHINICAL articles ? If you want to drift , dont read .... just floor the pedal and play with the tranny n e-brake .

    - understand the capability of the drift car . If it is not a drift car then you will be wasting time and money and learn nothing from it .

I have to agree with Sprinfield... Novice pa ko apan the actual drifting is a good experience than reading... Daghan ko ug nakit-an diri sa Florida unya kadaghanan nila not heard of them reading how to drift. Those Days, I remember the Talamban Campus boldoson ug kapila unya tabon napod... pagkalapok.
