Minutes of the meeting

Time : 2:00 - 4:00 PM
Where: East West Cafe, Ayala (Ad: Bigby's open again!)
Who : Maisy, Trixie, Clyde (SLICK!)
Vemp, Cmontoya
What:
a) Short history of SLICK!
b) Draw-Your-Own-Character Contest
c) Toycon expenses
d) Poster drawing contest
Short history of SLICK!
- It was late 2005 when Clyde decided that he wanted to create comic books. He met people who shared his passion and SLICK!
was born. They published their first comic book last month using personal funds. They're currently looking for more members.
Draw-Your-Own-Character-Contest
- We brought back the age categories: 8-12, 13-17, 18 up
- Submit artwork on due date (3 days before Toycon for pre-selection)
- Character must be based on local themes (Philippine legends, myths, urban legends, etc.)
- Full-color in A4 paper
- We will pre-select 15 from each age category and post only the top 10 from each if we don't
have space
- I will request wats to help me get sponsorship of prizes (9 toys, 3 for each category)
Toycon expenses
- He who will remain unnamed will sponsor 0.5 lead, clutch pencil lead, bond papers to SLICK!'s Teach Kids How to Draw Manga and
Comic Book Drawing Club's ConSketch Give-Away Bonanza
- We also decided to have a schedule so we don't get tired. Maybe one hour rests. 10 - 12, 1 - 3, 4 - 6, then stop na.
Poster Drawing Contest
- And oh, Poster Drawing Contest started last Sunday. Due date is September 30. The poster should have something to do with toys (not *** toys)
and should be eye-catching, controversial but not immoral.
hi guys, i havn't been attending the meetings,na bz gyud ko, pero I'd really like this to push throguh,
however, as long as it stays on this thread, nothing will seem to happen,
I've got a couple ideas for the convention, but we need to secure some funding first. sponsor hunt! whee
hope to join sa sunod na meeting. ^_^

@vanceloma: I'm not a richie and thus don't know richies or even managers of large companies. I'm hoping that Istoryans who belong to wealthy families know who can sponsor this event. However, we must select the right sponsors (they must be somehow related to toys - physical or virtual). I'm assuming that wealthy people have the right connections (their parents know other wealthy people, business managers of companies such as Smart or Globe, etc.).

@all: Naa na progress anime/managa add-on event planning? Kay kung wala, we'd better inform the organizer na wala para dili siya expect.
Its slowly...
no one is spearheading

@Weebong: No one is getting paid to do it. wats is right, passion in this case may not be enough. Well, I think it's safe to assume that there won't be any anime/manga-related events in the toy convention. So, dili na lang nato istoryahan kay ma frustrate ra ta. Ipa-close na lang ni na thread sa mods.
the problem man pud is the budget...
So, um, well, does this mean the Drawing Club and SLICK! is pulling out?Originally Posted by cmontoya
Thanks.

@HbH: No. The consketches, drawing tutorials and the draw-your-own-character are pushing through. Walay siguro cosplay.
