Wa man jud ayo most local TV programs. Hoping nga ma ban unta nang Wowowee for good. Hasta sad nang Goin' Bulilit... ug daghan pa lain shows nga mga wa jud ayo when it comes to mental development.

There are two sides to this argument though. Am not totally convinced that the TV programs are dragging Filipino lives. It might be that the educational attainment of most Filipinos are too low, such that these are the programs that appeal to them. In short, basin ang mga TV networks, ga produce ug bakya ug badoy nga shows without any educational values because ang audience pud, bakya ug badoy man. There are many shows that appeal to the maids... kay daghan man sad jud kaayo maids ug maid ang huna-huna diri sa Philippines, so assured man ang TV networks nga naa silay market. The more highly educated, nag-tan-aw naman lang cable TV ug foreign channels sa ka way ayo sa local shows.

Pa-improve atong public education diri sa Philippines ug ang general standard of living. Ang mga TV shows, mosunod pud na ug improve. It's kind of a chicken-or-egg thing though... which one came first?

More on how the big networks drag down the lives of the locals.

    The "Under Training" Defense
I was caught aback when a lady friend of mine, who had been hosting a local regular TV program, asked me how much I was getting from GMA for "Singgit Cebu." Instead of answering her, I shot the question back to my friend and surprisingly, she admitted to me that the producer of the show had not discussed this matter with her despite the fact that she had already taped several episodes with them. I suggested that she approach the producer and state all the conditions and her compensation in a contract.

Several months after, I caught up with her again only to find out that the producer decided to cut her off the show without giving her any remuneration for several weeks of hosting. The reason? "We were just training you," she was told. Can you actually believe that?! Training for what? Anyway, my friend simply took it from there and just pocketed the memories and a good learning experience from her short stint in showbiz.
