well, i'm not totally discounting the possibility of a congressional inquiry about this matter. but i find it unnecessary at this point. much more make it your preferred way para lang mka hibalo tanan tawo. naa man tay newspaper ug tv bro that is enough na para mka hibalo tanan tawo.

bro, dili man ni contest sa pasikatay sa issue...and FYI, dili na ma dali-dali ang kaso. once u file a complaint, there are numerous stages nga dapat pa agi-on...mahulog sa limot? tell that to the Cebuanos.

dili ko loyalist either side bro. im only loyal to my fair arguments...

and about VECO? compare the prices urself and let us know. don't ask somebody to do it for u. mao na ang mentality nga dili angay mosanay sa Pinoy bro. kana bang dili ra mgpakabana nya kung naa nay mo aksyon, moingon dayon, "ngano karon paman ni gilihok?". nya worse, mao pa nuon ang himuong dautan...toinks!

28 pesos man lagi ang diesel today in Metro Cebu? Gi adjust ni nila ug dali-dali or sayop gyud ug compare? First post pa lang, it already says that oil prices in Manila are cheaper because stocks originate there. So we have to compare the rest of Visayas and Mindanao. I also know for a fact that gas prices are more expensive in Bantayan and other remote places. The entire province does not have a uniform price, again due to added transport costs to those areas. Ok unta if someone can provide statistics like timeline and comparison with different cities. Maayo unta kung na study gyud ni tarong before mag kiha-kiha kay support ko ani nga move if tinuod gyud nagpataka ug presyo ang big 3. But if it's not clearly recorded and Manila lang i-compare, possible nga wa gyud ta mahimo, fact of life gyud nga no oil here in Cebu unya mo-agi pa sa Manila ang oil tankers.

No bro, CCCI has a comparative price study not only between Cebu and Manila but also from other parts of the country as well. Don't tell me these Cebu business groups are complaining to PGMA, risking their reputations, without valid and verifiable information to back it up? Don't tell me Capitol and these business groups went to Manila and filed the case against the Big 3 without sufficient grounds to do so? dili man sab cguro ni cla bogo tingali noh...

here was part of an article:

"During the conference, the CCCI presented its comparative study on fuel prices in the cities of Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Iloilo, and Metro Manila.

Dubbed as “Oil Price Watch,” the study, the business group said, was based on an actual survey of gas station pump prices last May 15.

that's why after learning that Cebuanos are paying P5 to P8 more for oil products than consumers from the rest of the country, Capitol and these business groups seek redress of the “injustice” in court.

as for more info on timeline from past to present, sayon ra kaayo na collate bro. all they have to do is gather the info from receipts from different places. (ako gani bro i have all the fuel receipts since the start of my mini business few years ago. kana pa kha ang grupo gyud sa mga negosyante). and i'm pretty sure they are doing it right now. but then again, price info difference from even one day of operations is very much enough evidence na to jumpstart a case.

and as for that CCCI comparative study info, the case was already filed and i think dili na ma publish while the investigation is still ongoing...otherwise basin ma contempt? im not a lawyer...

I stand corrected. 32 pesos diay ang diesel yesterday, 28+ was without EVAT pa.

Don't get me wrong. There is some data in the newspaper, but it left me wondering how long this has been going on. Yes, better late than never, but if it has been going on for quite some time, it would be nice if the Big 3 will be fined big time and this will be made to subsidize Cebu oil prices for the same duration this has been going on.

However, I beg to disagree your point that one day of operations is enough evidence to jumpstart a case. And where are the other government agencies that are supposed to deal with the oil prices? I checked the DOE web site. They have a retail pump price watch, but it's as of April 2009! If the government is serious about this, just have a database that shows historical gas pump prices. Kana, para klaro gyud kaayo. I applaud the guv's effort to sue them, but the question is, where are those whose job really is to monitor oil prices? Nitabang? Way gibuhat? Nagpabayad sa Big 3 nga angay apil kiha-on? O gapadaplin usa para a limelight naa sa mga mo run usab sa elections?

that's also what we want. we want the Big 3 fined big time and return the over payments we made since the time it was going on. mura ba ug Meralco case bah.

actually it can and it did. wa ka kakita nga 5-8 pesos per liter ang difference? kadako na ana ah...in ur face nana ha. unsa man diay ang mga Cebuano? special gyud ug datu na kaau nga ing ana na kadako ang diperencya compared sa uban? they are playing w/ our gullibility u know...

just knowing the difference of 5-8 pesos for a day compared to other parts of the country is enough grounds to file a case against predatory pricing and cartel-like behavior. there is even no price competition here to speak of. Competitors are supposed to compete... as u well know, one day is about a hefty sum of P150 M ++ of profit from the big 3 combined. but i didn't say time line cannot help. in fact, it can help strengthen the case.

IMHO, inutil mana c Angelo Reyes sa DOE. When PGMA visited Cebu 2 weeks ago, the Cebu business groups complained about the price difference. Then in turn PGMA, seriously asked Reyes about the matter. what he replied? NONE, NADA, ZILCH. the only answer they got was his blank face...nya ganahan paka mohuwat ug aksyon gkan aning tawhana? i don't think so.

DOJ subpoenas Big 3 oil firms for ‘predatory pricing’
    Philippine Daily Inquirer
    First Posted 01:49:00 05/26/2009

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice has subpoenaed executives of the Big Three oil companies—Chevron, Petron, and Shell—to appear before a preliminary investigation in connection with the complaint for violation of the Oil Deregulation Act filed by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

The separate subpoenas ordered the oil company executives to appear at the office of Energy Undersecretary Roy Kyamco on May 28.

“You are required to submit then and there your counter-affidavit and affidavits of your witness/es and other supporting documents, if any, in your defense,” read the subpoena signed by state prosecutors Diosdado Solidum Jr., and George Yarte Jr.

“Be warned that failure on your part to comply with this subpoena shall be considered as a waiver to present your defense in this preliminary investigation and the case shall be considered submitted for resolution,” the subpoena read.

Garcia and Cebuano business leaders last week filed a criminal complaint against the so-called Big Three for imposing higher oil prices in the province than those in Metro Manila and other areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The governor alleged that Petron Corp., Chevron Philippines Inc., and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum engaged in “predatory pricing” in violation of Republic Act 8479 or the Downstream Oil Industry Deregulation Act of 1998.

Garcia referred the complaint to the joint task force on the Oil Deregulation Law of the departments of justice and energy, headed by Justice Undersecretary Jose Vicente Salazar.

“We are filing this complaint under the avenues provided to us by the oil deregulation law, there is clearly and inexplicable price discrepancy for which it is the Cebuanos that are suffering,” the complaint read.

“It affects business, it affects transportation, it affects the lowly Cebuanos, so that is why we are filing the complaint. This affects all of us,” it added.
