you owe it to yourself to be honest.
you also owe it to the one you love to be honest.
you will never attain happiness by being some people's idea of what you should be. you can only be happy by being what you are.
if they can't love you for what you really are then you don't owe them a lifetime of hiding in the closet and being completely different than what you are. besides, if they (parents and others) claim to love and accept you by becoming their idea of how to live your life (which is completely not you) then they are loving the wrong person. and you are therefore not in the receiving end of their love but someone else who doesn't exists.
choose to love yourself above anything else. no else will do it for you.
be proud of what you are.
their acceptance and recognition are nice but not necessary.
live the life that you've always wanted to live.
no ifs, ands or buts.
