Everyone, please do not leave your vehicles parked in the "no parking 7am - 7pm zones" or city pay parking areas after 12 midnight. The city begins towing all vehicles on these areas at 12:01 in enforcement of the no overnight parking ordinance of the city (yes we have one).
Likewise any vehicle parked between the hours of 7am to 7pm in none designated parking areas will be clamped (vehicles not redeemed after 4 pm will be towed).
Any vehicle parked on the side walk will be clamped, and vehicles obstructing a sidewalk will be towed (and cited), same for the 4pm rule on clamping.
Motorcycles parking ("obstructing") a side walk will be towed.
Vehicles and or motorcycles parking or blocking a private driveway can be cited (provided it is not the vehicle of the owner of the private driveway or it was parked without his permission), those subject to a request for assistance by owner of passage or driveway may be towed. Note that the private area defined in the building code and zoning law is two meters from the gutter or that not falling on the sidewalk (this definition will retain the original meaning but shall be modified in cases where there is a covered sidewalk)
The city has a number of tow trucks at its disposal, the most I recall last week was 6 dispatched to single location... under MPG escort... at 2 in the morning... of those towed was even a government vehicle. A "GWEN" vehicle - Government on Wheels E... N.. something something.
I'm compiling papers and information about why and how this is done so we'll all have a little something in mind to guard against. Oh and one more thing - unlike demolishing the houses of squatters which can not be done in times of rain... even if its just a slight drizzle, since that is prohibited by law. The operation to clamp and tow vehicles can and will be done even in the middle of a thunderstorm... at 3 in the morning.
It's not a question of why do they tow at night or its not even office hours, or they have a quota (which they don't) anymore. Please be vigilant everyone.
