Best Strategy game in PC?

As BeoR has said ... there can never be a single best. Asking for the best is like asking for the holy grail. There are however influencial games among them ... Dune 2, Red Alert series, Warcraft series, Starcraft, Total Annihilation, etc. There is also the fact that strategy games are vary varied. The ones mentioned and the ones in the poll are merely real time strategy games while strategy games itself can span to Sim City, Civilization, The Sims, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Theme Hospital, etc.

I remember Herzog Zwei from my days at Centrum, hehehe. So no, neither Starcraft nor AoE started it.

Iverman, If game devs stuck to satisfying the lowest common denominators in PC specs all the time we'd be seeing innovation at a snail's pace. Games will never move forward with that kind of thinking. It's all about the gameplay, sure, but that shouldn't stop companies from using today's hardware to its full potential. Great gameplay CAN come with gorgeous graphics. Also, the Total War series wasn't meant to compete with SC, at least not directly. They're worlds apart on all fronts.

Yeah, the genre is rapidly expanding in terms of graphics and diversity of gameplay. Starcraft cannot be compared to the Total War series... both games are totally different from most angles.
If you like shutting down your brain (not really ) and getting straight to the action, you'd like starcraft. On the other hand, if you hate shutting down your brain (not really ) and carefully plan ALL your actions and would like to have all the time to make the right moves, then you'd like rome.
I must add though, you can still be able to like both games if you allow them to.

Loving rome... This game is GREAT. Just remember though, flank the enemy units to win! haha

Rome Total War?

This game is really really really bad!




















It keeps me awake every night. My health is deteriorating and I go to the office with large eyebags everyday since I installed this two weeks ago. To show my commitment to this game, I reformatted my hard drive and installed only RTW so the game does not have any reason to run slow or ta hang.


It also destroyed my night life. I'm slowly becoming a monk. I don't like to go out at night anymore. This is contrary to me before I installed this game.


Medieval Total War is also nice. RTW is, however, a very deep game.[/i]

there are also other "legions" in the net committed to Ancient Rome...

Just yesterday, I went to labangon and mambaling blacksmiths to look for bladed weapons but I haven't found any that resembles the gladius... I'll be back again today to bring them pictures if they can forge one for me...

Next would be the scutum, pila, armor, helmet, etc....

actually it was Dune 2 which started it all, then followed by Command and Conquer, then Warcraft 2, then C&C: Red Alert, then Starcraft, etc...

If we are "talking Cebu or perhaps sa Pinas" ... Starcraft still wasn't the start of real-time strategy games.
