I don't think 1 dead pixel will be honored. LCD monitors need at least 5 dead pixels for the warranty to kick in. I'm not sure if it works the same way with a camera's LCD.

i will update this for a "known CCD issue" CANON camera problem (as my camera is also defective)

    About images on LCD (revised)

To Canon Digital Camera and Digital Video Camera Customers
    * Addition of digital camera products to the list of affected models

Thank you for using Canon products.

It has come to our attention that the vendor-supplied CCD image sensor used in Canon digital cameras and digital camcorders may cause the following malfunction: When the product is used in recording or playback mode, the LCD screen and/or electronic viewfinder may exhibit either a distorted image or no image at all. We would like to convey the details and our service policy. We sincerely apologize for the considerable inconvenience this presents for customers who use the affected models (listed below). We spare no effort in our quality management to make sure our customers can use our products with confidence. We hope our efforts will earn your understanding.

    Notice of Additional Affected Products
As the result of our continuous investigation of this phenomenon, we have confirmed that it may occur in some areas (in high-temperature and high-humidity environments) with the 11 models below, in addition to the 25 models currently listed as affected. We sincerely apologize for the considerable inconvenience this represents for customers who use affected products.

    Digital IXUS 330
    Digital IXUS 400

    Phenomenon
It has been confirmed that the connecting parts of the internal wiring of the CCD used in affected products may become disconnected, especially if the affected products are stored or used in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. If this occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD normally in Shooting Mode, which causes malfunctions such as the image being distorted or not appearing at all. This phenomenon can be confirmed on the LCD monitor display. The same phenomenon also appears on the recorded image.

    Canon’s Response
Affected products that exhibit this phenomenon will be repaired free of charge, regardless of the warranty status, if disconnection of the internal wiring of the CCD is confirmed.
Customers who have previously paid repair fees to have their products repaired owing to this phenomenon are kindly requested to contact the nearest Canon Service Center.
