got this from myidol forums...posted by supermeklot...
, here are my suggestions and for the first time ever, I actually am taking this seriously.
My suggestions may sound weird but trust me. I put my mind and heart to this.
1) Matt Giraud - "Your Song" from Moulin Rouge
Matt was easily the first one that I had a song to suggest for when I saw the theme spoiler. His piano skills and soulful voice could easily match with the fabulous lyrics and awesome melody of this song.
Do: Choose this song. Seriously.
Don't: Try to be like Elton John. Make it your own (don't exaggerate the suggestion please). Give it your soulful vibe.
2) Kris Allen - "Crazy for You" from Vision Quest or "Melt with You" from 50 First Dates
I'm not entirely sure about "Crazy for You" but due to the numerous acts in the Philippines that have covered the song, I have come to realize that the song is good no matter who sings it. It will be an easily likable performance.
As for "Melt with You", I'm craving entirely for something Jason Mraz from him. This song not leaning towards the more "Mraz-y" Mraz songs is a good thing since there is a less tendency to sound copycat.
Do: Stick to the guitar this week. And I mean the acoustic guitar. I miss that Kris Allen.
Don't: Do a song that will require too much playing up on the arrangement. Learn your lesson.
3) Danny Gokey - "Power of Love" from Back to the Future
Aside from the fact that BttF is my most favorite movie in my entire lifetime, I do believe that Gokey can pull this off because it is this kind of stuff that would suit his voice more. In fact, it sounds like he originally sang this song! Haha! I don't like cabaret-sounding Gokey. It's even worse than normal Gokey.
Do: Keep your dance moves to yourself.
Don't: Overdo the song.
4) Allison Iraheta - "Iris" from City of Angels
My suggestion might be weird for some but I truly believe in the red-haired kid's rocker-girl capabilities. This song is not only easy to like but also would help to further exhibit her awesome vocal prowess that we all should be familiar with so far.
Do: Sing your heart out. I don't see any hindrance to make this performance fail if you choose this song.
Don't: Wear something weird. The judges will focus on that again.
5) Anoop Desai - "My Girl" from Father of the Bride
I have been enlightened, as well, that there's this "something" that the song has to have for Anoop to make it work. I don't know what this thing exactly is but I know that this song has it.
Do: Make it your own. Play it up a little so that you won't sound too old-school for American Idol.
Don't: Look like a stiff pole. Loosen up.
6) Lil Rounds - "If You're Not the One" from Maid in Manhattan
Weird suggestion again, I know. But Lil really has to prove herself worthy of actually being here instead of Felicia Barton. To pull off a guy song is only part 1 of the job. Part two which is nailing the high notes is something we know that she can do.
Do: Choose a good modern song. Please.
Don't: Sound copycat-ish.
7) Adam Lambert - "Stay (I Missed You)" from Reality Bites
Since the start of the top 13 episodes, I've been craving for something unique from Adam Lambert--something he wouldn't normally do. The Tracks of my Tears thing was something I sort of expected so it doesn't count. I want Adam to go acoustic-y. I think he will still sound good and it will show that he can be not too showy when the situation calls for it. If he actually chooses this song or something from this genre, he will just nail his win for sure.
Do: Surprise us.
Don't: Deafen us.
