let me share bro ha..lisod jud bro samot nag wala kaayo kabalo. tanan naa man risk gyud..but naa man pod nag atang nga ganti mao ang uban mo go. so kung dili nimo totally ma eliminate ang risk try to minimize it, how? study the system/business. the more knowledgeable mo less imo risk kay magbuhat naman kag system na moatbang ana.

kung seryoso ka mag invest then u need to study, murag student forever ang labas bro. then warning pod kay usahay sa kadaghan na natog matun an, mogahi ang ulo usahay if naa tay ma meet nga naay kalainan sa atong nahibaw an, pag moabot na, isipa na lang na studyante lagi forever so open minded lang ang learn from it.

now sa investment sa stock/mutual fund, mao ni ako gibuhat pagsugod.. study then practice sa mga virtual game, once na confident i open live account, then akong plano ato is if kaya nkong i bet ang performance sa mutual fund then padayon ko, if not then il let the fund manager manage my porfolio..karon okay man ang result so padayon ko direct sa stock. example lang na sa pwedeng buhaton.

now most of the guys here from mutual fund naga encourage na mag invest sa mutual fund, but dili man gyud pod pugson na mokuha ka sa ilang product or mo invest gyud sa MF (as far as i know) mohatag man pod na cla og overview sa financial literacy, so naa ra ghapon sa tao unsa iya sunod buhaton.

but i see also the point of user199 (with jeshcel), maayo pod kay naay other side. hopefully sharing lang ha, not away..hehe and bro user199 please share pod sa imo experience sa investing para pod maka learn ang kadaghanan. mas daghan mo share mas maayo.

    just my two cents.

let me tell u this... i invest both MF and stocks.

i know newbie jud ko sa stock market... on the first six months siguro. i was able to earn during bullish market din karon nga murag nag consolidate (bearish), ako gain is na-wipe out and losing na.

ako MF is still gaining, hopefully it will gain more before yearends.

so if u dont have enough time, MF would be good and if u have most of the time, study stock market, rewarding bya gyud.

both carries risk gyud...MF kung pila ihatag sa fund manager, mao ra gyud madawat. stock if di ka kamao...do the EIP...earning gyud gihapon.

way away2x oi, as long as way nag binutbot ug estorya ug nag exxagerate. healthy discussion is always great.

    goodnyts... goodluck sa everyday struggles.

Dili man na dapat lalison ang MF ug stocks oi, importante naa tay investments, dili mag compare2x. Hehehehe! Importante kahibaw ta mu let money work for us. Dili na angay debatehan. Hehehe!
Dako pa ug room of growth ang Philippines, both stock market and MF, dili pa kaayo knowledgable tanan pinoy about stock market ang MF fund, better educate not debat2x or mag pataasay ug ihi. Importante naka tabang pud ka sa uban.

OT : Kung offeran kag Time Deposit sa Bank, tagaan pud ka nila ug report everyday kung asa nila gi invest? T_T!

MF company have external auditors that discloses Financial Statements to Shareholders. SGV and Co, tig Audit.

Invest man Gani ang Top Big Banks sa Philippines into Mutual Funds, kita pa kaha nga pulbos ra ato shares na palit. Hehehe!

Is there a way to verify MF's losses/mistakes?

@makie: are you also in the MF business? if yes, there is a conflict of interest. you're trying to make the MF as a surefire way of making money by getting investors; do you get a commission? management fee? service fee or whatever that's called?
There are ways to hide the losses and make it look that it is in profit but there is no reason jd to do the reverse. Doesn't matter if the fund is in a loss kay managers still get paid, When they are doing better they get paid even more. But tnuod that ang investors get the short end of the stick but as maki said, dawat lng lumpyo sd ra nuon ang investors... And also, chances of going bankrupt by trading for yourself is very high vs letting prof do it. It has its pros and cons... Personally I'm aware of all the charges in a MF and I have nothing against it. Not everyone can trade thats why they say 95% failure rate ang trading...

    Pros And Cons:

    Mutual Fund
    Pros:
    1.) Professionally manage
2.) Leverage your time to other things that you want to do. Don't consume time to trade 9-12 everyday.
3.) Less chance of gettings brunkrupt since a professional person do it for you(You can maximize your time)
4.) Anytime you can liquidate, sell your shares(not waiting for another buyer to buy it from you)

    Cons:
1.) Dili ka kaboot sa stocks nga gusto nimu paliton(since the professional fund manager do it for you. One smart move on a entrepreneur to pay someone else to do that job, instead you doing it personally, you can maximize your time and Effort)
    2.) Naay management fee

    Stocks
    Pros
1.) You can choose a stock you want to buy
    2.) No management fee

    Cons
1.) You can't do other productive things that you want every 9-12.
2.) have a higher risk of bunckruptcy if you choose bad stock
3.) You can't leverage your time.

One smart move of an entreprenuer is to pay someone else in exchange of their expertise so that I could be able to leverage my time and do the things that I want to do. Letting money work for me in parallel with the business/job/freelance I believe in.

    mag bro,
peace. I just felt it unfair to tout MF as the "sure" investment. Full disclosure would be best.

I did not realize a lot of you here depend on that for income. So I wont be asking for questions you cant answer, unless you are the top honcho running the MF.

maybe miscommunication lang. we are talking about different legs of the financial pyramid. maybe we were always taught to "question authority". If you dont ask? who will? if not now? when? As we say in school "Kung hindi ikaw, sino pa?". Thinking different is not very popular and it alienates you from the rest, most especially, if there are vested interests.

To the newbies: Go into business- with a passion and drive that only you can provide. It is much much more rewarding. Just remember what Buffet said, "the best business is a monopoly". But, let me add: "If you can't be in a business with a monopoly, then I'd settle for one that has only 2 players" cheers!

Then they did not get the "better" accountants or can't afford one.
    cheers!

and let's hope the economy and the markets keep going UP,UP,UP. Everybody is happy that way.
