Just checked the figures and King Kong was a gentle giant man at the box office. For a movie that cost $207 mil, it grossed only bout $50 Million on the weekend (US & Canada ticket sales), which was way off as what industry experts expected it to perform.
    More info here: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/

I love the film myself, but what to do you think happened? Is a 3 hour movie bout a monkey was asking too much? Hmmm it'lll be interesting to see what happens in the following weeks. Do you think Kong has enough legs? If you remember a lil movie called Titanic... that film only grossed bout $25 mil on the first week. But repeat business kept the same earnings over the next 14 weeks. The rest is history of course..

Anyway, fingers crossed. Merry Christmas everyone.

there's a big thing that i noticed in the film.

Ms. Darrow after those wild encounters with with the saurs and kong, she's still baby face. Still flawless. The face, the arms, the legs...

Well I don't think I would have enjoyed the movie as much if gorgeous Naomi Watts was covered with bruises, a black eye, and blood half of the time.

Great movie! But what got Kong really freaked when he was held captive on the stage?

I myself am curious about James Cameron's "Titanic."

But, really, after "Titanic", where is James Cameron? After "LOTR", now we see Peter Jackson with his "King Kong," like wielding a blank cheque to make what he wishes to make.

I wonder why "Titanic" did not give James Cameron the same opportunity in the same way "LOTR" did to Peter Jackson.

    Just curious.
