noob pa lang kosa kalibutan sa DSLR, mga duha-on pa gyud ka bulan.... i was been at your position last December but not on Canon rather i opted for the Nikon. I poured man hours on research (which DLSR suitable for me) and the result was.......... All roads lead to Nikon D80 (prosumer DLSR) but on that day i'm going to pick the D80. The saleperson convinced me to grab the consumer DLSR & save the money for the lens. Will he is right & i'm happy with my D50 outfit. I'm not playing devil advocate here, just want to share a lil experience. If i'm in your shoes, i may buy the Canon consumer DSLR (e.g. rebel or rebel xti) body & suitable lens for your photographic aps. Maybe few years down the road, they will introduce a new technology on DSLR and its perfect time to upgrade a new body while you gain some skills from your old gear.
Last month i have this plan. Like mid of this year or 3Q, i schedule to buy a decent lens & flash but as the days gone i'm craving those stuff. Just today i finally address my agony & they will deliver the lens by next week for the flash i pick-up late afternoon. Para naku once you acquire your body with kit lens, it just a mere beginning & there's a long road once you'll hook-up with photog and more magnetic strip to swipe...... AIMHO
