actually, iPhone doesn't really offer much other than today's phones could offer...

Connectivity:
- No HSDPA or 3g? Are they really serious of making iPhone that popular with just an EDGE? duhhh? 4G is already being developed and tested, what's the point of sticking to 4-year old technology? if iPhone is really an innovative phone then surely this could have been equipped with a much future-proof technology for connectivity. and who says 3G is not useful try using the iPhone-EDGE-enabled as a phone modem and let's see if it can beat an N70 phone. geez..

Interface:
- multitouch? it maybe something new but not really something that can give me enough hype. i don't care about simple navigation because faster navigation is a matter of practice. one can use the pc without the mouse as long as he knows the shortcuts.

OS X:
- if they can have bootCamp with the iphone then that would reall surprise me.

the only thing i like with iPhone is its accelerometer, which detects when the user rotates the phone when viewing a picture and automatically switches the viewing mode accordingly (i.e. landscape or portrait), and proximity sensor which detects when you lift iPhone to your ear and immediately turns off the display to save power and prevent inadvertent touches until iPhone is moved away.

because they are playing catchup...if they announce this mid year or later this year, it would look even more outdated...who knows by mid this year 4G might start rolling out...hehehe...2.75G technology of iphone would seem antiquated already...so in a way now is their best time to announce it...generate buzz and hype etc...

try using your pc keyboard with google maps.....

4G hehehe........... unless you are in Japan or Korea...... thats way off the mark.....

the last time i checked there has been no agreement on 4G yet.....

WiMAX is coming also....

Apple will just wait until the dust settles...... and that is a smart move.... why waste a lot of money changing the phone when something is coming out......

So don't give me 3G, 4G, 4.5G or even 5G...... the standards are so MESSED UP...... and also they are not interoperable.....

Japan has the best mobile network..... but its only for Japan..... nobody has even tried bringing it to other countries.....

Korea has their mobile network standard as fast as japan..... again nobody has tried to copy it and bring it to other countries....

WHY? you want to ask.....

Because there is no STANDARD...... what if you put the latest technology on your phone..... but you can use it in a limited area only......

Its what you CALL UNCERTAINTY.....

HSDPA while certainly ideal...... is not widely adopted...... many mobile phone carriers are not putting their money on it..... because there are competing systems and one of the is WiMAX......

again Who wins? HSDPA or WiMAX? its like BETAMAX and VHS..... and now BLU-RAY vs. HD-DVD.....

again as long as NO STANDARD exist..... no one wants to bet which one will win.....

mga pre... ang interesado sa iPhone (mga Paris Hilton type) - na bagho-an lang na sa interface,,, why would i buy it- i would rather have a pocket pc phone with built-in gps, wifi,3ghsdpa nya BT 2.0 400 to 520mhz then skin it like iPhone.

it's not a smart move actually if one is actually waiting for something to settle down. apple was one of the first to venture into GUI interface. they were also the ones who revolutionize the mp3 players. why not do the same thing with the iPhone's features? there is still more that could have been done... they could have just announced and release the product in a year or two to pack the phone with the upcoming-standards and not waste on just a product that couldn't live to the expectations of all gadget-lovers out there.

Again apple will move once its certain there is a STANDARD out there THAT IS WORTH INVESTING and ADOPTING....

so far THE PROTOCOLS, MOBILE STANDARDS are so MESSED up......

Who would want to PUT something in their phone and LATER ON is NOT WIDELY supported....

WiMAX is coming..... that is what APPLE is waiting.... it will NOT adopt WiMAX right away...... it will test it first.... JUST LIKE INTEL PROCESSORS on a MAC..... it needs testing.....

So please Steve Jobs isn't PAID to be RECKLESS.....

He will do what is the most PRUDENT thing to do.....

Apple Iphone is just saying "SETTLE FIRST 3G or 4G!" then we will make an iphone to harness the network....

UMTS or Universal Mobile Telecommunications System which is a 3G STANDARD is also the most widely accepted and an easy road for GSM systems to upgrade to...this is what we have in the philippines and japan and europe! Virtually all cellphone manufacturers are making phones compatible with UMTS except APPLE. so who's messed up?

mac/macOS/firewire wasnt the widely accepted standard.
pc/windows/USB has been the widely accepted standard.
why did apple insist on mac/macOS/firewire then...sure there are benifites and list of negatives going that road but that never stoped APPLE.
i say, WAITING is just a lame excuse...i think someone is making up the reasons as it goes...tsk tsk.
