i haven't used my g2 since i got my olight m20 warrior. bug-at sa bulsa ang 300 pesos for 60 mins sa surefire g2 and it's not even a weapon light. i haven't changed the batteries for the m20 for more than a year compared to the g2 na less than 2 months lang on my regular use.

Mao sad lagi. Dili pratical and surefire when it comes to battery-light output kay 6V unya less than 100 lumens ra ang luminous flux.. Maayo pa ang LL P5 nako kay usa ra ka AA unya 105 ang luminous flux. Pero I'm saving for the G2X nila, gi upgrade naman nila ang output which is 200 lumens.

well you cant compare battery life of the olight m20 to the surefire g2 coz m20 is led and g2 is incandescent. weapon light? g2 not a weapon light? depends on how you define/describe a weapon light. both lights can be mounted on a gun without any problem or the bulbs flickering or switching modes, some prefer the g2 even as it is way lighter compared to hard anodized aluminum body lights. sadly i have to admit that surefire is way behind with lumen superiority in the flashlight market. but then again surefire is the best in terms of quality and durability. G2 LED has a lousy 120 lumen output, there are a lot of aftermarket p60 format drop ins for surefire but its not available in the philippines yet.

i got a pm asking about surefire led upgrades. ill share it here. there are a lot of brands out there for p60 format drop in led, sadly most of them (atleast the good ones) are in the US. Malkoff for example is an amazing drop in but cost a lot. so what are our options? either solarforce, ultrafire or trustfire drop ins. ultrafire and trustfire are kinda rare and there are imitations or fake ones. solarforce is the best, i am a surefire user and have switchted to solarforce since the design and format is similar to surefire 100% compatible and user serviceable.

the next question asked is why are most tactical flashlights or recommended output are below the 300 lumen output? well that depends on what you use your flashlight for. if its for gun or weapon use, have you tried using 300+ lumen flashlight in CQB situations? i have, and trust me when you hit the light at a wall or something the glare will make you go momentarily blind.

question, then what are the multi mode flashlights for? like i said, depends on what you use your flashlight for, there are occasions when you wont need the full or max output of your flashlight. Multi mode flashlights are not considered tactical, mounted on a gun in a firefight you wouldnt want your light to accidentally change modes or hand held with an assailant coming at you you wont have time to change modes. any shooter will tell you, a single mode is more tactical. good thing though there are certain brands who uses a secondary side switch or a head twist to change modes so as not to disrupt or accidentally change modes. hope im making sense here.

question: do you use your light for self defense? -- that will be yes. if your thinking about blinding you assailant then your light has to be at least 800-1000 lumens, incandescent is best for blinding, with this output . the human eye(s) can adapt after a second or two so its your choice to either run or try to beat the heck out of the assailant. my flashlight is equipped with a "strike" bezel, not to sharp but with right amount of force it can dig in the assailant's skin. for total blindness that will take a lot of time for the assailant to recover? then you will need an 800-1000 lumen light. personally i dont think a flashlight is good for self defense but the brightness does help.

bai, ako flashlight collector.... actually na addicted lang sa lights kay permi brownout sa una diri cebu. akong first light kay N2 surefire 120LM (gift from a relative nga naa sa service) nindot siya ug flood ug throw pero mahal ug mga pisa. na guba ang iyang click switch sa likod so i resulted to going cheap china made. dont get me wrong, china made sometimes might not be perfect but with a little modification and adjustment mas hayag pa sa surefire. naa koy ssc p7 which is 900LM perfect round flood spill and the center throw is good for at least 100meters. honestly anything away 100m lisod na ma identify kung babae ba or lalake, friend ba or foe. pero its a nice one. i have 7 of these lights and they are running on lith-ion 18650 X2 and is good for about 2 hrs on high. ang setting sa light naay high, low, fast strobes(SOS) and low strobes.

recently naay bag o ni gawas sa cree na emitter which they boast na 1300LM daw on a single emitter.... pero wala pako kita ug good reviews. still waiting. lisod raba ni e'uli basta china. thanks... nice thread.

i agree bai. surefire back then was at the peak coz it was the only flashlight available that was "tactical". im also a flashlight collector and was a big fan of surefire products, but that was then, now there are china made lights that are perfect, perfect meaning anodizing, coating, threads, o-rings, LED modules, electronics, programming, switches and half the price of surefire or even more. i had like 9 surefire models, i sold them as there are more or other brands that appeal to me now, and i couldnt resist the offer made by other flashlight collectors hehehe. i only got two surefires now (E2D LED Defender and 6P LED Defender) which both are given as gifts from a friend who is a flashaholic also.

@diamondtop: do you still have the whole surefire flashlight with the tailcap? Ill be more than happy to buy it from you at a good price . what type of lights do you collect? i collect ones that are easy for everyday-carry or i can just put inside my pocket. most of my lights are either 2x CR123, 1x18650 or 1xAA/AAA.
