mas inila gihapon ang cebu as queen city of the south.
batchoy city of the south ang iloilo.
Iloilo was the Queen of Spain's city of the South... But Cebu is different because it is the Queen City of the South in the Republic of the Philippines...
Cebu City is considered as one of the most progressive cities in the Philippines. About 80 percent of the island vessels operating in the country are also based there. Recently, the entry of business process outsourcing (BPO) firms such as call centres have contributed much to the growth of the local economy. BPO sites are scattered throughout the city. During the last years of the 1980s, growth has been spread to the countryside. Thus the name Queen City of the south. Aside from shellcrafts, rattan furnitures and stonecraft, tourism may well rake in dollars.

asa man mas nindot sa ilo-ilo ug cebu..? or unsa man ang qualifications ana nila..?
If you still consider the Philippines under the sovereign rule of Spain and if you still bow low before that long dead queen mentioned in your copy pasted dissertation, then by all means, you can call Iloilo the Philippines Queen City of the South.
Also it says in your long post that (Iloilo) earned its title due to its significance during those era because of its trade and economic importance and I don't need to further bury my nose longer and read, quote that lengthy copy pasted script of yours. it even says there its also about the wealth and importance of a city.
well unless you wanna open an argument which city is more rich and important. but that's besides the point
Actually if you seek further why Cebu, NOW is the Queen City of the South, the answer is just right in front of you---google it, yahoo it, or any search engine to your liking.... No where to be found is Iloilo and Cebu is more prominent having most if not all hits or even solely befits the title.
Though its just purely more tourism than political and the monicker itself is earned well in publicity, popular knowledge and present relevance and doesnt need this so called evidence...what else do you want a signed document by the long dead queen stating Cebu to be the Queen City of the South in place of Iloilo?
come'on get real and do your homework on a much broader scope and sense.
PEACE!!!

or para wala lalis....
Iloilo is the Philippines' Closet Queen of the South
..but then dili man known ang Iloilo nga pinaka daghan bading. hehehe
just to break the ice lang![]()
thanks im liking you, wanna kiss you that..
being that title will be replaced by time to time
the first capital and oldest city of the philippines is CEBU but now manila,
the luckiest miss universe to be crown after a year will be replace by a new one,
SABAH of malaysia is part of philippines colony but now malaysia,
nabasa ko nang tanan, it is already an history that printed on the book and not for today... kanang titulo nga QUEEN CITY OF THE SOUTH mura ranag tropeyo o dungog sa usa ka tawo apan malabwan ra sa mga umaabot nga panahon..
BUT NOW! can you compare the booming industry here in cebu and ilo-ilo? diba dili? sa una kamo apan karon cebu...thats why cebu called ceboom...
he he he he he tikalon...
The queen of Spain never gave IloIlo the title "Queen City of the South". She
bestowed Iloilo the title "La Muy Leal y Noble Ciudad de Iloilo" which translates to "The Very Loyal and Noble City of Iloilo". It was only after the Americans came that Iloilo became "Queen Regent's City in the South" to signify the queen's fondness towards the city and then later called it "Queen City of the South" to make it shorter and because it was the only city outside of Luzon that was progressive. Seems progress does have something to do with it.
