okay so I failed to read all the posts above. Just some. But I think everyone has more or less the same views on bisrock.

Two semesters ago, I loved bisrock and I did a research paper on bisrock which I gave to Smash FM and to the Sinulog Foundation. I got recognition from the vice mayor and actually went to his office for a talk with him. He asked me what I wanted for the bisrock community. I gave my suggestions and he said he'll bring it up in a Sinulog Foundation meeting. As of the present, I don't know what has happened to my suggestions.

DJ Ram also contacted me and asked me for an interview in Bre's program on Smash FM. I was so excited because I really wanted to get to know different bands. He introduced me to some and it was fun. However, after all that pseudo-popularity hype I got, I realized that I didn't want that interview or anything related to bisrock because I don't know what to say about it anymore.

I got a chance to talk to Ms. Marit, the station manager of Smash FM, and I told her about how I thought many bisrock artists are just there for the easy fame. The lyrics were becoming more and more nonsensical. I longed for the meaningful lyrics that the earlier bands sang. I thought ako ra naka-feel ato pero daghan pa diay.

Karon, dili na ko maminaw ug bisrock kay I don't get the point in singing about my snot and booger. I bet the pig in my backyard is having more fun eating that sh*t off the post. Tsk tsk tsk.

Bisrock should be Bisrock

Bisrock = Bisayang + Rock
Novelty songs = POP Culture + Bisaya

most of the so called bisrock songs karn kay
bisrock daw = novelty songs + distorted guitars..

truth is... i play for a band that writes songs in english but i also work closely with bands that sing in cebuano/visayan, in fact, the very first 2 bands i played with 11 yrs ago wrote in bisaya...

i really believe that the future of filipino music lies with our very own culture... we must create a culture that is entirely original, and this can be readily achieved by not only using english as a medium but more so if we used our own language or dialect.. Try listening to world music for example, 90% of the artists sing in their own language ("world music" nga eh.. hehehe..)..

That's why if the cebuano/tagalog/filipino language is nurtured, we might be at the verge of creating something uniquely---- OURS....

unique na man! some bisrock pioneers have created a culture already! but the thing is... mao nay mahitabo if you abuse these cultures... to save bisrock.... make songs that make sense coz some bisrock bands keeps on composing songs but the lyrics just dont make sense... i wont be dropping names but we all know who they are!!!
im not a composer but i know how to listen....
