as an ordinary citizen, i think I can go beyond paying taxes kay in fact for the employed dretso naman na kuhaon sa employer og silay bayad sa BIR.

for me, being part of forums like this is a good move enough at being good citizens. why and how? use these sites to make a noise, magyawyaw, mag-divulge if nay nakit-an nga 'tiwali sa gobyerno'. go to the media's fb accounts if necessary. diha man na sugod paghisgutan until people clamor for change or status-quo. example: the chacha itself - gidiscuss sa blogs, sa forums, sa sermon, sa coffee shop, etc until nakuyawan si gloria (at that time). same is happening to s*x education

exposing people and issues to the greater masses is a way of educating everyone. diha msugod ang mga taw makuyawan to do immoral or illegal things if they think they'll get caught and be made to answer. case-in-point: bisag unsa pa yawyaw ni noynoy kung ang mga LTO magpabayad ghapon, a dali ra new or renewal license oi. but what if you exposed those who paid and got paid, hmm mag-tarung na. then there will be a ripple effect.

example: have you seen marikina? limpyo kaayo, right?! what did they do? una sige announce nga badlongon mga hugawan etc. next move ang mayor, police, konsehal bring megaphone and roam around. suddenly you hear "ano ba namang kapitbahayan ito? di ba kayo nahihiya? bakit naka-kalat basura nyo dito sa kalsada eh mamyang gabi pa ang truck? ano akala nyo sa kalsada basaurahan? pag hindi nyo nilinis ngayon ito sasabihin namin sa buong barangay dito sa kalsada nyo magtapon ng basura at hindi namin padadaanin ang truck hanggang maging dumpsite kayo"! Da! Next we found out, gi-bequeath na ang megaphone sa mga barangay captains and kagawad, sila na ron ang tig-shagit sa megaphone. it rippled and marikina became clean. go there any time of day.

the ripple effect takes long depending on how folks are kept interested about the issue. resolution might even take beyond our lifetime but if we were part of it, we should be happy we did our part.

so, keep reacting, its being a good citizen!
