We are serious in our relationship with Mother Nature.

I also climb mountains solo. I am most happy trekking alone. I train every Sunday from Napo to Mt. Babag via the hard Ernie's Trail and backtrack via the Kahugan Trail or to Kalunasan via the just discovered No-Santol-Tree Trail or the Coconut Ghost Trail.

Yes, there are many groups milking people money just to join their climbs and my club is not one of them. You could join us FREE as guests, once or maybe twice, after that you could either join as an applicant-member or establish your own group. Or you could be like me - as a soloist. But you have to take a BMC first to know the safety aspect of this hobby unless you are a veteran mountaineer like this writer.
Likewise.. i usually trek / hike / travel alone, if not on a pair. This way, i minimise impact and utilize LNT to the maximum...

Im also an "old-school" traveller. I carry everything on a big pack on my back. Even if i need to carry the kitchen sink, i will. I only travel light if i need to. But on most trip, i am always "self-contained". Meaning, i carry everything that i need on my back. So in the even that i got separated from the group (if im in a group), i sill have the ways and means to fend for my camp needs. Most hikers nowadays are in a fad not to self-sustain themselves by carrying a big pack, most probably for the fear of having the big pack in the group means you got to carry the extra load / or you given the extra load to carry.

I have been in the company of CeMS way back 1994, in some of your trips way back then. i love the group's disciplin, though of the times then i can't fully ride-on the group as i was still a teenager and most of the CeMS are already "mature"... hehehe.

Anyway, i missed their company and hopefully i can jon you guys again in the future.
