On Faith and Salvation

OT..this is the mass b4 the solemn procession..in case you ought to know the actual events behind the Sinulog..also to clear the dissenter's impression that the Sinulog is a time of drinking, smoking..blah blah

to answer the question i do celebrate sinulog because though am not a catholic i am a devoutee of the senior sto nino. I watch the sinulog parade twice when i was in college before but its starting to get so commercialize already that i stayed home during those time tungod sa kadaghan tao. Usually on the feast day i go to sto nino early in the morning though i dont join the mass , i light candles and pray the prayer which i learn in my congregation.

on christmas, we do celebrate but not because its Jesus birthday but a sort of thanksgiving for the past year and a welcome of the new year. dec 25 is not Jesus's birthday anyway, but its a time where ppl get together to show love, peace , and who am i to hinder it

good to hear that SAMOKAN..you may explain to the Catholic dissenters here that we are not venerating the Sto. Nino as if it's some kind of IDOL/ Pagan Effigy

- I grew up Catholic
- I do not believe in the dogmas so I do not recite the Apostles Creed , only the Lord's Prayer
- I believe everyone has equal chance of salvation...which mannyamador pointed out to me in great detail as wrong...but i still stick to it anyway
- I like the buddhist principles and try to learn more about buddhism because for me it is the religion least corrupted
- I hate religions
- I like to quote "Judge not..so ye not be judged" ...for people who get on their high horses and preach through the roof
- I hate hypocrites and those with holier than thou attitudes
- I still hear mass ...sometimes...maybe once a month...old habits die hard. But I do meditate a lot now
- I am starting to learn about advaita vedanta as well

one forumer labeled me as lukewarm ....maybe because i sample everything (Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism) ....i say i am open minded and i do not let it bother me...i believe God is within me.

People have the freewill of what they should believe in, their own preferences, their own way of salvation. No matter how there would be a number of laws/concepts, a number of unanswered queries.. and all those interpretations of our religion, what matters most is what we, our ownselves, believe in, for as long as we do have a good heart and mind, and we dont step on others, then why worry? Nothing makes ur salvation but you..

And such faith is what makes u strong for u to be determined of realizing ur good life despite the hassles/bad influences/predicaments.. Â*

... and yet again antarctica and heaven cant be directly compared. Since antarctica has been proven by science that it exist but heaven is still a myth that science can never prove nor disprove.

As far as I know.................heaven is not really a kind of place.................but it is a state.............a state of happiness..............happiness because you are happy that you are enlightened and knowing that God is around............its a kind of happiness you see when you see the face of your creator...........they say even on earth you can find heaven................does it exists? I think it does..................you don't even have to die to know that it does............hehehehehe

Hehehe. Yeah, you're right. Cute point. I think my elephant analogy makes more sense than my hell-and-back theory. Reading it back, the elephant thing sounds profound. My first post sounds like something stupid from Apocalypse Now. Sheesh. And to think I put it on my blog.

Actually, Manny has a great point. Absence of evidence doesn't necesarily mean evidence of absence. I sounded pretty closeminded when I made that statement - the opposite of the reason for my starting this thread in the first place.

Personally, I don't mind hearing different interpretations about faith and belief. What I DONT like is when someone comes to me and says "AND THIS IS THE ONLY WAY, ALL OTHERS BE DAMNED."
