Most "good" albums and bands are those under the radar like Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, My Morning Jacket, Mastodon, Jason Isbell And 400 Units, and Nickel Creek (although they got one mainstream hit which unfortunately some ignorants labeled them as pop boybands due to their looks and faces...)
But truth is Nickel Creek is composed of awesome musicians who can actually read notes.
Sean Watkins currently with Jon Foreman of Switchfoot as FICTION FAMILY and recently release an album this year.
Sara Watkins just released her new album produced by John Paul Jones, the bassist/mandolin/keys of Led Zeppelin.
Chris Thile is with his folk/bluegrass/classical band PUNCH BROTHERS while at the same time releasing some collaboration with bassist Edgar Meyers and violinist Hilary Hahn.

NICKEL CREEK, i wish they would reunite. Technically ala daw sila nagbreak up. Murag on hiatus lang daw to play as a unit although both sean and Chris appears on Sara's debut Cd just released this year and produced by Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones. Sara Watkins album is the once closest to the Nickel Creek sound balancing bluegrass and folk and country.
THE MOFFATTS- last time i heard Scott Moffatts in 2006 with his solo album full of weird, freak folk, and straight up country songs.....
