The $199/$299 price tag for the 8gb/16gb models is subsidized by the carrier (like AT&T in the USA which increased its rates for the iphone) which is why they are locked to specific carriers in different countries. The unsubsidized price (which Vodafone is offering in Europe) is about €499/€569 ($773/$881).
In our case here in the Philippines, when Globe brings the iphone here don't expect to just pay $199/$299 without some expensive data plan/contract hanging on your neck.
Yup, iPhone is only 199 dollars for 8Gb, and will be available in the Philippines.
But the problem is we are not sure that Globe will be selling the actual price of the phone.
Hope they will sell it at its exact price for prepaid lines.
ok $199 = P8756, so paying only P8756 for a prepaid 3g iphone is just wishful thinking.
