    Hi, welcome to my first installment of my so-called, "Guitar Lessons".
    I'm about to share with you a lesson I got from Joe Satriani, this is
    literally for beginners, as for it thus focus on mastering your fretboard.
    I just twisted some of his teaching thus transforming mine.

    I don't have the illustration for the entire fretboard, so I'll leave it all
    to you to get it.

    Well, first I hope you have memorized the whole 12 notes; A,A#Bb,C,C#/Db,
    D,D#/Eb,E,F,F#/Gb,G,G#/Ab. Thus making it the Chromatic Scale. Well for
    starters, you just got your first scale.

    To continue, I suggest getting a metronome. For those who don't know what
    a metronome is, it is a device use for accompanyment in developing your
    speed and accuracy on the guitar or any other musical instrument, you can
    get it at your local music store. Or if you have a computer, download it
    for free in some sites, just search it in google.

    Now, at first this may seem awkward but as time goes by this'll be second
    nature. Let's start at the A note. And let's just focus up to the 12th fret
    since the 12th fret is the octave of the open strings that we have started.
    Each tick of the metronome represents the asterisk character(*). I suggest
    setting your metronome to 60 bpm or beats per minute.

    e||---------5-*---------------------||
    B||---------------------10-*--------||
    G||-----2-*-------------------------||
    D||-----------------7-*-------------||
    A||-0-*----------------------12-*---||
    E||-------------5-*-----------------||

    That was easy isn't it? Now, increase the metronome speed to 65 bpm, everytime
    I practice, I increase mine to 10 bpm, but for other cases, lets increase by 5's.
    If you got it nailed, move it to 70 bpm, then another 75 bpm. Until you can't
    achieve the speed that you just pulled.

    The important thing to do is do it slowly, you may have heard this a lot
    of times, but this is really the truth. Quality first! This develops coordination
    and slowly practices your accents and dynamics toward picking.

    Now, let's try A#/Bb. Start the metronome over till your desired speed until you can't
    do it.

    e||----------6-*-----------------||
    B||-----------------------11-*---||
    G||-----3-*----------------------||
    D||------------------8-*---------||
    A||-1-*--------------------------||
    E||--------------6-*-------------||

    After that, continue until you nail all the 12 notes. Do this as an exercise everyday
    and you can't go wrong on mastering your fretboard. Well, that's it for now, I hope you
    have an idea on how to memorize your fretboard as an exercise. 'Till next month, we still
    have many more ideas on how to master your fretboard. Keep Slurrin'.
