There are news(PDI, Aug. 31) that Cinemanila will be pushing forward for 2006 instead of 2007Tony Cojuanco has already found the seed money to allow the first two categories, digital shorts and features, to be viable for application from independent filmmakers... still no word as of yet when application can begin.. my educated guess will be as early as October or November, not as late as January 2006!

BeoR, Jomark, Satoy and MrBiddle:
You haven't heard from me on this thread for sometime now. So here I am:
1. Despite the volatility of the economy, The Little Company still has a few contracts to complete --- the latest being a documentary on a municipality with a slant on it being an investment destination.
2. I just have obtained a new baby --- MC-500 3CCD JVC Everio --- already a 4GB microdrive system. The tape replacement alone costs here some PhP21,000 per and running only for an hour on jpeg2.
3. I am leaving for Washington DC soon to fulfill a three-year contract as Special Assistant to the President of the corporation I was previously connected with. As I am comfortably related to the chief of East Indies --- in both New York City and Washington DC --- I will try to arrange for a showing of our indie work here.
4. "Ms MM" is still pushing but the producers want MTRCB approval while it is still on paper. Right now, the screenplay is being re-written for that approval.
I wish you all the luck and better opportunities for your engagements --- be they films or other more productive employment of your talents.
P.S.
Jomark --- your office phone ladies always tell me you are out-of-town. So where are you right now? PM me please.

JVC Everio MC-500
That's the cutest thing I have ever seen...
You are right; it is Mpeg2. And pinoi2k4 is right too for the picture shown.Originally Posted by MrBiddle

It is a comfortable small system outputting a DVD format in 3CCD lines. It is not a camera for what you call rich bastards because it is very affordable. You just have to innovate on how you store your footage because it is the microdrive at 4GB that is very expensive; in my test case, I had to bring a notebook to transfer the microdrive content to ordinary DVD disk in situ.
Hmmm... but I was told that direct to disk systems need at least a tape deck for a safety recording. Although they're advantageous so you can shoot and shoot without gumming up a tapehead.
Hmmm... triple chip and affordable. I'll look this camera up and see how much.because it is very affordable.
