I wanted to use wm6 but I think there's a vidcall issue.,or cant connect to wifi
ngita lang sa 6-button htc home for wm5 or wm6 by helmi_c sa xda-dev.

One reason why naa sad problema ang cooked ROMS is cause of the idea na tweak to improve speed, etc, remove this and that.. nya naa ma tangtang na essential component. Although not totally a bad thing to use cooked ROMs, if naa official, then use the official. Anyway, cooked ROMs are for testing purposes man sad.. So use at own risk.

As for O2 devices, medyo biased ko gamay kay tungod sa akong mga nabasa ug personal experience sa atom. What I just want is for this to be fixed para at least magamit. O2 devices manufactured by Gigabyte (quanta) are somehow flaky in performance. Personal opinion na ha. Plus after sales support is also low end.

Mas lig-on IMHO.

@ikee: UMPC na lang bai hehehe.

In the end, cowards are those who follow the dark side.

The real reason for problems in cook ROMs is getting the old device drivers to work on the new OS version. It's not the tweaking or the removal of things. sorry to disagree. I have an Official ROM WM6 running on my HTC Trinity for ages pero hinay kaayo ang response; so, I cooked an upgraded version of it for the last three days. Not only do I have a faster and efficient device, it has more features than the official ROM with minimal consumption on persistent storage memory.

Another case is my old XDA Atom. Before it was even upgraded, the official ROM WM5 AKU 2.2 of the ATOM took 2.5~3min to boot WM5 on the device nya ga kamang iya operation murag nokia 6600. After upgrading it to WM5 AKU 3.3 cooked ROM, it runs 3x faster and boots within 1min. Now, some people wouldn't like to upgrade because bluetooth PAN is not working in the cooked ROM. BUT they fail to realize that this feature was not even included in the official ROM that came with the device. This feature is included only in the new OS version.

The HTC Himalaya (XDA II) for example enjoys the ultimate upgrade thru cooked ROMs because it's official ROM came with WM 2003. This version of WM kung mahutdan ka og battery, mapapas tanan imo data. How much was this device sold in the market? PHP44,000 when it first came out. After two years, nigawas ang WM5. WM5 has persistent storage - which means dili na mapapas ang data even if wala nay battery. So, had it not been for cooked ROMs, padaplin na imo XDA II (goodbye 44k). So far, my Himalaya is still alive, and is now running WM6 cooked ROM.

Cook ROMs are actually the result of a necessity because the official ROM does not guarantee the best performance for your device. Imagine O2's official response regarding WM6 upgrades for the Atom: to buy Atom Life (higher model) if you want to enjoy WM6. Isn't it stupid? It's just like saying: if you want vista, buy a new pc with VISTA. These devices don't cost like ordinary mobile phones. They are even more expensive than laptops now a days.

Nganong mo upgrade pa man gyud? Tubag: tungod ra sa added features. If you even observe the specs of the newly released devices, dili gani layo sa older devices. gamay ra kaayo improvements gi himo sa hardware. Ang XDA IIs upgraded to WM5, mas dako pa og storage memory and RAM compared sa Atom. Same for HTC Touch, hardware is not even superior to the Atom, gi himuan lang og Touch Flo software nga wala sa Atom...

Of course, naa pud downside ang cooked ROM. Basically, tungod ra gyud sa device drivers nga wala ma-upgrade. Sa Himalaya, dili na supported ang iyang backpack accessories once upgraded to WM5 and WM6.

Pocket PC na siya running windows mobile. dili symbian. how do you find it? I mean with regards to operation. If you're used to a standard mobile phone, this would no be to your liking. BUT, the nice thing about pocket PCs... it's an extension of your desktop pc, compact version. It's actually up to you how to maximize its use.

ang pocket pc phone is all about mobility. kung di gyud nimo feel ni, sell it to me. heheehehehe.
