Legal for Pablo John?? Yes!!! Are his motives based on good intentions NO!!!

Is Cebu City using the province's money to create the SRP? Hayyy...dako au akong tax!!
Technically even the government owned lots are inside cebu city zones/locations.
You dont even need to be a highschool graduate to notice that.

Understanding their ambitions, they clearly want more than having 2 congressmans, 1 GSIS head, 1 governor and so on...
I bet the Garcia's wants a slice of the tastiest piece in Cebu or no one gets even a single slice.

Known rule we follow: Step on my property and you will get shot.

if i were to describe it graphically, naglaway ug nagkurog sa kalami ang mga garcia over the SRP.

yes, tommy boy is arrogant that is public knowledge but nanghilabot ba siya sa province? what sparked tomas' anger was the jilted land swap deal.

are the osmenas hungry for power, apparently not. do they want cebu to be a truly premiere city in asia? looking at their track record, YES!

now what did the garcias give to Cebu? that is tangible, significant, permanent and can be truly called a garcia legacy? aside from flimsy photo-op'ed programs?

wa diay ka kbaw bahin sa Ciudad project? LOLs...ky wa ba diay nanghilabot c Tomas bahin ana? and it's not even what sparked Tomas' anger. It's about what sparked Gwen's anger. Remember it's not Gwen who started the word war in the first place...

hunger for power is always dependent on a person's perspective. if being a mayor that is utterly arrogant and dictator-like is somehow seen as power-hungry, so be it...if not, so be it.

    Barrita: Gwen’s legacy
    By Eddie Barrita
    Small Bites

Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia, who has just been conferred an honorary doctor of humanities degree by the Cebu Normal University, will go down in history as Cebu’s first lady governor and builder of the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC).

But she can still wrest another first if she can build Cebu's first public park complete with a zoo, sports, recreational and entertainment facilities akin to New York’s Central Park.

    ***

One ideal area for conversion into a public park is Camp Lapu-Lapu in Lahug, Cebu City which will soon be vacated by the Armed Forces Central Command.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña can help the governor if he wants by having the area declared a park by the City Council.

u might remember that Pablo John was even instrumental in the realization of SRP.

Among the many prominent cases he successfully advocated is the petition against the preliminary injunction issued by a Cebu trial court to stop the implementation of the South Reclamation Project (SRP). Pablo John successfully pleaded before the Supreme Court the illegality of the preliminary injunction, leading to its lifting. If not for this, the SRP would have been delayed by at least 5 years, if not altogether scrapped.

other prominent cases he successfully advocated:

    1. The petition to declare illegal the controversial clamping ordinance of the City of Cebu. The regional trial court of Cebu declared the ordinance illegal, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court, to the relief of motorists in Cebu City.

    2. The petition to stop the closure of the first Mactan-Mandaue Bridge. The closure would have greatly inconvenienced millions of users of the first bridge, and was preparatory to the imposition of a toll at the second bridge. Pablo John successfully secured a writ of preliminary injunction against the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to stop the closure. The DPWH eventually abandoned the plan.

Pablo John also acted as Gov. Gwen’s chief legal counsel during the canvassing of votes at the Capitol social hall, and was responsible for defeating all legal maneuvers from the other side to delay Gov. Gwen’s proclamation.

hahaha. but maybe, maybe not. but as what can be an obvious reason is the rift between Gwen and Tomas.

but on another perspective, conflicts can also serve a purpose other than the negative one.

"A deeper scrutiny of the City Hall-Filinvest joint venture, for example, could not be had under the present setup where all the members of the City Council belong to one party, which incidentally is also under the full control of the mayor.

The Capitol-City Hall conflict, however, could help lift the veil covering the transaction and dissect the agreement for infirmities or for provisions that could place the government at a disadvantage." ~ Sun.Star editorial march 26, 2009

Even Tony Cuenco may back FLI probe if he finds solid proof...

Let's just face it, now the Garcia's are a great political force at the moment....not as powerful as what the Osmena's ever were before but they could be getting there. Its up to them to srew it up or not. From the time of Serging to Tommy now all of us have to admit the have done a lot for us.
About the Garcia's, they are fairly new and still have something to prove...only time will tell if they can do it or just fade away....if majority will share your sentiments they will fade away, but at the moment I don't think so...they are getting more popular as each day passes!!!
