Asean summit dress code: Beach elegant
The attire for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations leaders attending the 12th ASEAN summit in Cebu will be "beach elegant" and the atmosphere relaxed, as befits the tropical island venue for the summit.
The ASEAN heads of state will be shedding their stiff suits to don elegant beach wear at the summit, which is conducive to a more relaxing and cooperative environment that is expected to allow the regional forum to resolve many contentious issues, officials said.
Organizers of the event said the three-day summit proper is likely to be a combination of "Plan A" and "Plan B" — which means the summit will be held at two venues: the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in Mandaue City and the Shangri-La Hotel on Mactan island.
National Organizing Committee (NOC) secretary-general Marciano Paynor Jr. said that President Arroyo has issued instructions that the meeting be made enjoyable and relaxing for Asean leaders: "The President said let's do something different because all summits are the same, and one thing that she said that was also articulated by (former) President (Fidel) Ramos is that in all summits you forget what they talked about after a few years unless it is about one really serious issue."
"They will remember (that), one they had a good time, that they were treated properly or, two, it was the most boring, or there was a lot of traffic or we had to walk half a kilometer just to get to our vehicles."

The ugly electric wires and poles are now gone! I hope that it has gone underground.
The arch which symbolizes unity and strength incorporates influences mainly from the post-Industrial period. Another perfect example of this is the "iron Globe (Earth)" right in front of SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, NCR and of course, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France which was designed by Eiffel Gustav.
