before Kobe and the lakers won last year's championship, Kobe haters would argue that kobe never won a championship without shaq. They are mostly the naysayers that "predicted" kobe will never win another championship ever again, karon nga nakadaog sila last year lahi nasad, kobe never won a championship without a great center...

    wala jud dag-anan si kobe.

mj never won a championship without pippen either.

kobe it's true he has unbelievable talent, but even Jordan could score like him in the present NBA. the game today is designed for the guards, and MJ would have flourished and led all players in scoring, even ahead of Lebron. What people are saying basically is that MJ had the lion's share of being the go to guy, and kobe was 2nd fiddle to Shaq. Compare the lakers today and the 96 bulls, gasol is much more talented than luc longley, wellington and james edwards combined.

Kobe is good but MJ is simply the best...

imagine putting a kevin durant sa panahon ni jordan. 6'10 a very quick forward with mad handles and can shoot the ball extremely well.

imagine putting a lebron james sa panahon ni jordan. 6'8 guy ambot pila ka pounds, very freakishly quick. handles the ball like a guard, and can shoot the ball almost from anywhere the court.

imagine putting a guy like dwyane wade sa panahon ni jordan. - i doubt anyone can keep up with him.

now imagine putting a player in jordan's era and ibutang sila sa fast paced basketball of today - most probably a role player, extremely slow. Can't keep up with the more quick legged players of today.

This is the competition debate. At the SG position in the 90's we had Clyde Drexler, Joe Dumars, Reggie Miller, Jeff Hornacek, Craig Ehlo, Rex Chapman, and Hersey Hawkins. Kobe played against Tracy McGrady, Lebron James, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, Michael Redd, Dwayne Wade, Jason Richardson, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson, Rip Hamilton, and Brandon Roy. Each of those is close to as athletic as Kobe. Hornacek is not as athletic as Jordan. Not even close. The Guards of today have a better chance of guarding Jordan because ptoday's players are almost as athletic and as quick as Jordan, and this attribute we give credit to jordan for revolutionizing the game of basketball. In the 90's, jordan was like the lebron james of his era in terms of athleticism. His athleticism was exceptional but today his athleticism is more like a standard and the norm for today's young players and here we have Lebron James who is raising the athleticism standard even higher.

Also, the myth that Michael Jordan didn't face zone defenses needs to stop. Just youtube search for "Michael Jordan vs Zone defense". Now for some quotes....

Ron Artest claimed that if he defended Jordan in his prime, that Michael Jordan "would drop 50 on me".

Bruce Bowen stated that Michael Jordan was the hardest player he ever had to defend. Just think about that for a second, Bruce Bowen didn't even face MJ in MJ's prime.

During a 2007 L.A. Lakers pre-season broadcast, Phil Jackson was asked how he thought Michael Jordan would perform today, Phil said: "Michael would average 45 with these rules."

"You can't even touch a guy now," says Charlotte coach Larry Brown. "The college game is much more physical than our game. I always tease Michael [Jordan], if he played today, he'd average 50."

“The history book inspires them to be some of the best,” said Jordan. “Rules have changed to help them. I could have averaged 50 points today!”

"The defensive rules, the hand checking, the ability to make contact on a guy in certain areas .... [have] all been taken away from the game. If Kobe could get 81, I think Michael could get 100 in today's game." - Scottie Pippen January 2006

Craig Hodges is the Lakers shooting coach, get a look at what he said:
Q: If you could take one player in their prime, would you take Michael Jordan or Kobe?
A: M.J., all day. There's no comparison. M.J. could score 100 points in this era. You can't hand-check now. Imagine that trying to guard M.J. It would be crazy.

Hall of Famer Rick Barry, a keen observer of the game, said he would love to see players of the past getting to attack the basket under the new officiating. “They’d score a lot more,” he said.

Tex Winter said. "Players today can get to the basket individually much easier."

Asked if he could defend Jordan under today’s interpretation of the rules, Dumars first laughed, “It would have been virtually impossible to defend Michael Jordan based on the way the game’s being called right now.”

Default Kobe and Jordan are technically the same

Kobe came out from high school, Mike came From College with a championship, both of course are high scorers and great defensive players, Mike was for the 90's, Kobe is now, Mike is 23, Kobe is 24 (previously 8 ), both came from peats, except Jordan has two 3 peats, both are coach by Phil Jackson, Jordan had Rodman, Pippen, and Kerr, Kobe has Pau, Bynum, and Fisher...see there about the same...
