What I do think is that the reason is indeed political. Christians were persecuted in Rome until the institutionalization of the Roman Catholic Church. The empire had already largely weakened by that time; fragile and ready to fall due to the numerous invasions from the tribes northeast of Germania. To me it was a last-ditch attempt by the emperor to keep his subjects together and with it, the empire altogether.
Constantine was still Roman and in his time, the RCC has been a dominant figure in the empire. When he set out to build the New Rome in Byzantium he knew that he will have to do with a state religion as an added scaffolding to keep the new Byzantine Empire, to motivate attempts to reclaim the old lands west of the Bosphorus and to the reclamation of the lands east of the Bosphorus (the Crusades to Jerusalem). The Byzantine Empire was merely and extension of the old Roman Empire; even the Holy Roman Empire later on which is neither holy nor Roman.
honest question:
if we say sinulog is a christian tradition and not pagan.....unsay connection ani with Christianity?

kabantay mo gi-anad2 na ang taw aning mga butanga to merge into " catholic beliefs"?
Nope.
1. I haven't encountered any San Lorenzo Ruiz statues in my area.
2. He's not one of the Saints I venerate.
3. I usually kneel down in front of the altar and not in front of the Saints on the sides.
And these are my personal views.
As for that Sinulog issue.
1. Sinulog is more cultural than religious.
2. The religious aspect is on the Saturday before the parade where there is a procession.
3. The Sto. Niņo is not a Saint and the Catholic church has said that. It's the representation of the child Jesus.
The real patron Saint of Cebu is Our Lady of Guadalupe.
And what the hell does life dance have to do with the RCC? I don't see any priests, nuns, bishops and cardinals partying there. And come on, I bet even the non- catholics join the sinulog parties.
hahaha... And mao na iyang way bashing. Kuyawa dyud ani ato separated brethren. Slabs, di dyud ka ana tubagon.
