    1. i bought my wrt54gc for 3k
    2. yes. but read manual first
    3. 100m indoor 300m outdoor theoreticaly. half that for actual effective range
    3. borrow a wifi router to check. if it doesnt, invest on 802.11N router or range booster.
    4. yes thick concrete walls decrease the effective range
    5. yes
    6. the Netgear MR814B Wireless Router is selling at 2k and works just fine
    7. as long as the router conforms with 802.11b and 802.11g standards it will work.

thanks bro for the info bro![br]Posted on: December 27, 2007, 12:57:40 AM_________________________________________________g ot some final questions maybe you chaps can help me with, before i buy?

how do i connect my prolink globe router/modem to linksys wireless router? do i attach them both or use the wireless router alone?? i ask this question cuz i dont want to be buying an expensive wireless router & finding out that its not compatible with my main modem/router.
id like to know just how to connect the wires & stuffs......not the configuring or setup internet?

by the way where did u buy your Linksys WRT54GC Compact WiFi G router ?? ive read some bad feedbacks,, is it true that the distance is only good if your router is on the same floor as your laptop?

#1 You could buy a wireless router (from CDR-king kay barato). Then you could surf around the house. You could also use ethernet, just buy a pre-made UTP cable with RJ45 on both ends and plug it in your router and EEEPC.
#2 You could go to some free wireless hotspots. Or use a 3g phone, connect via USB then surf anywhere (smart charges P10/30min).
#3 Some hotspots charges users or need to buy coffee/things on their shops. Free hotspots are free (no charge) . Some of theme are misconfigured routers that anybody can connect and use their bandwidth without the owners knowing.

the c model is not for you i like this because its compact and i travel a lot. try to get the SRX model if its in your price range.

to connect the router, the out of your modem goes to the internet/wan port of your router. if you prefer to save a money, get a wifi G or N access point instead. plug and pray . both linksys router and access point will work out of the box. but if you have problems using it, there are a lot of techheads here who will configure it for you for pizza and coke.

o really,,,, i kinda like the appearance of it it looks slick & no robot antenna sticking out of it...... but what i like is range cuz im like a bee buzzing aroung our house with a laptop... it would be really awful to buy a short distance wifi router.

A few months ago, Mobilewhack reported on the portable PC Asus Eee. The name "Eee" was derived from easy to work, easy to learn and easy to play. Well, looks like Asus wants to make things even easier because they just announced the release of various accessories for the Eee PC Mobile.
