bro fuzzy, the new breed of amd procs, there are unlocking kits for sale (i think CrasHBURN posted a kit for sale sometime ago) that unlock the multiplier, giving more headroom for the owner to overclock it. p4 users like have to stick to oc-ing via the fsb only (unless engg sample ang among proc).

now most older boards do not offer options for running the pci/mem buses asynchronously with respect to the fsb... in this case, 'la gyud choice ang user... i-operate gyud niya ang pci/mem bus at speeds higher than spec. however, lucky for us, later boards (i think starting with the p3 boards) offer this feature pero limited (hard-wired or hard-coded ang ratios). boards today offer the option to set pci and mem bus speeds independently but still dependent on the fsb (fixed ratios).

siguro ok pa up to the mid-40 mhz ang pci bus (my misadventure before occured when i set it to 49mhz) but pls don't take my word for it c",)

    bro cyril,
the celeron 300 was the 1st big overclocker, reaching up to 2x its speed at 600mhz in some rigs. yes, its overclockable pero don't expect much. my old 533mhz celeron (a socket 370 btw) could not even get past 600mhz.

and as for the fan on your fx5200, just the fan or the entire heatsink/fan combo? naa man 3rd party hsf available. kung fan lang, get a bigger fan (80mm will do just fine), some matchsticks and some hotglue. use matchsticks as "legs" then attach the fan to the vc at the legs using hot-glue. maayo ni kung under warranty pa imo vc kay walay trace of tampering kung maayo pagka-taod. c",)

** i'm in no way encouraging availment of product warranty for your mistakes ha c",) c",)

blade:yep, i know, actually im having a hardtime finding these stuffs(defoggers/conductive silver lacquer).i already have a video on how to do this,im still thinking of alternatives...

read bout your agp/pci "misadventure".hehehe, now that made me stop OCng for a while...

im just wondrin' why cant the pci/agp bus have its tweaking option in the bios?that would allow you to lock it to 66/33mhz at irregular fsbs.

    depends on the chipset.......

i think SIS and Nvidia has an option in the bios to lock the AGP/PCI....

I dont know if intel board has...

bro mE_bytes, yup, the new boards from intel (865- and 875-based) have it. i can set the pci/agp speed independent of the fsb. that's why i don't hold back when i oc my p4... c",)

bro fuzzylogic, ok lang naman i-raise yung pci bus speed... ang akin lang e be prepared for any eventuality. hehehe! kung me extra hdd ka na exactly same as the primary hdd you're using, i-clone mo yung primary mo then use the extra hdd on your adventures. c",) c",) as for me, i was caught pants down.

Increase mo lang FSB ng mobo mo... maintain bus speed for AGP/PCI - 66mhz/33/mhz

Or increase the multiplier of your processor ie. increasing it to .3 and up... increase volts of of your CPU by .1 - .3 . ayaw lapas og .5 ha...

if and only if you have a PCIlock

Not all mobo's has PCI/AGP lock feature.... unsaon mana me_bytes? other boards are fully overclock through increased FSB, including PCI and AGP

some older models of mobos have variable pci clock divisors.. so no prob with your PCI..
this is the line --------- cross it. i dare you
