What are the 4 dimensions of movie editing?

If you're familiar with THE WITNESS by SineBuano, when the female cop gets in the bathroom, the actress playing the girl isn't there, it was just the cinematographer/director... but cut together with an earlier scene where the D.P. was leaning against the wall shooting the 2 actresses together. the director has seamlessly combined that SPACE into one, when the female officer enters the bathroom.

Yes, I saw THE WITNESS and it's a bad example.

While watching it, I was instantly taken away from the story coz of the difference of the look of each scene that it seemed like most shots don't belong to the same location.

Do you color grade during post?

Also, the lights were so inconsistent that I was surprised after reading some posts of how long it took and how difficult you setup the shots.

I can just sense how much tests, exercises and study/learnings the group needs.

What lights did you use during the shoot? Did you get formal training or have previous experience in handling lights (besides reading theories on 3-point lighting)?

Coz based on what I saw there was no effort to light the movie PROPERLY. And if there was then whoever did it has a lot to learn if he intends to make better films.

Are you guys familiar with cutters, silks, nets and cookies? These are tools any filmmaker can use when lighting any low budget movie.

They're very cheap. Coz you can use anything as long as it serves the purpose. SO NO EXCUSES.

Unless all the technical issues were intentional then forgive me.

I may sound overcritical here but I'm just being honest with what I observed about the movie.

Or maybe I'm just expecting too much from the Cebuanos.

And maybe my expectations were based on the posts I read here. Coz many of you sound like masters of the filmmaking craft.

Or are you guys just pretending to know.

Anyway, I'm only hoping that maybe, just maybe, we can use this thread to let go of our big egos and start exerting honest efforts on learning filmmaking.

Like I said in one of my posts, I only have foreign films as basis in evaluating (technically) my test results. Then maybe it's wrong for me to use it as basis when evaluating your work coz of difference in resources. My apologies then.

However, I understand that Cebuanos aim to be in the international level or at least have better output than those from Manila, then the proper technical execution needs to be there.

And if I'm making the wrong assumptions on your goals, again my apologies.

I hope this kind of direct assessment is acceptable in this forum. For this post is not intended to start an argument.

I share my thoughts this way coz this is the kind of assessment I want you guys to give me as soon as you see my work in the future.

And don't worry, I will show you my works once they're done. The target date is around Sinulog next year.

I welcome HONEST EDUCATED assessment.

I saw it a few hours before writing my last post. A fellow poster lent me a copy after reading MrBiddle's post on editing.
