nope... that's not me with the glasses.... that's a friend of mine, a visiting photographer
from singapore. as usual I'm always the guy behind the camera

for that session one of my students offered her condo as the venue. I just brought the
background, lights, and had a friend source out the model for us.

I've been kinda busy and don't post as much... I have a four page spread out in this month's
    issue of Maxim Philippines...

anyway for a really good venue you can rent out a studio... jon unson is right nextdoor to me.
his studio (a converted 4 car garage) is big enough to hold everyone, has big doors to let in
enough light, and offers privacy for the sake of the model's sanity. other studios you can rent
from istorya members are benjie "pnoize2k7" ordoƱez in talamban (has a warehouse he converted
to his studio and can offer cinema lights for continous lighting... his compound is also enclosed
with high walls in case you want to take your subject outside for sketches in natural environments)
and mark "markyap" yap in guadalupe (which is airconed for eveyone's comfort, but a smaller space)

lighting for painting and drawing is similar to photography...
but that also depends on your artistic style

just let me know if you'd like to contact jon unson... as for pnoize2k7 and markyap you can send
    a PM

    here is markyap's place...

this corner is just a quarter of the guesthouse he converted.
behind the background are large glass sliding doors for natural
light. and on the wall to the left is a large bay window for
    additional lighting.

we had enough room for two back-to-back shoots...

going on at the same time and still had the other half
of the guesthouse available for makeup and wardrobe.
which means there's room for about a dozen artists with
    sketchpads.

there's also a large garden with alcoves...

for outdoor sessions if you like but some areas are not
as private... though good for partial or non-nude posing.

    @abortretryfail:

PMed you bai. You've been one big help! Let's just discuss costs face-to-face or in private. But to give you an idea, the session
will be around 3-4 hours and we'll probably do it once a month.

    @all:

Please don't expect that the venue, model, and possibly a teacher to be cheap. If we're serious about this, then cost shouldn't
be a big issue if there are 10-12 of us. I just hope no one backs out once I get the details from abortretryfail. Honestly, do we
really want to do it in a hotel?

Actually, I use to draw and sketch a lot before...

...but most of my time now is spent in photography. But at least I can handle my own storyboards for my shoots.
But my drawing skills really suck now

Hehehe. As for that OTHER hobby ... those who want to cross blades with Lostsoul and me can meet up
with our fencing group this Saturday afternoon. We'll be starting an 8-day basic training program.

@arf: If I am off early tomorrow, I will drop by Gizmo and talk with Mark. Maayo na lang pareha understanding ato mga commander-in-chief bai. Dili gyud
mag-reklamo sa kadaghan sa akong er, video ug photo references sa PC. She even knows I will soon attend a nude figure drawing session.

@Lostsoul: Aba, you did not tell us you were into fencing. If I had the money or the time, I prefer whatsisname Japanese bamboo sword fighting.

Grabeha ani ato mga hobbies oi, photography, drawing, fencing, cooking, and lest we forget it, bottomless ice tea drinking <hik hik hik>.

@all: Initial data about venue and models

    VENUE

    - Fee: P 3,500 (still confirming if per day or per hour)
    - Access to chairs, couches, mattresses, lights (and other equipment), aircondition, clean restroom/shower, makeup area

    MODEL

    - Asking for our budget but since I have no idea, I am asking for price ranges in return
    - He asked me what body type we are looking for and I answered, for male and female, athletic but not too muscular
    - Nude models ask for more compared to those wearing swimming wear

    HOW MANY ARE WE

    - I said 10 but I know some of you are already having second thoughts because of the P 3,500 studio fee. I told you this would not be
cheap. That is already 350 per person. Wala pa ni model and teacher and food and drink especially for the model.

    - I will ask for a relisting of interested people again after I get more details from Mark.

    @all:

Here's the minutes of my meeting with Mark Yap

    1. Venue and Model Cost Per Person (assuming the original 10 remains)
    - including snacks
    - P 600 - P 800
    - Let's nail it down to P 750

    2. Problem with J. prostitute as a model (from personal experience ni Mark)
    - More trouble than they're worth
    - Personal note: Common guys and gal, the fact that they're
prostitutes should already be turning on alarm bells

    3. At least one week notice

    4. Let's meet Mark and the model at Jollibee Banawa-Guadalupe
intersection at 12:30 and have lunch together so we get to
meet her or him before the actual session. This way, we get
to connect with the subject first.

    5. Mark will actually help us with the lighting and possibly rules
    of conduct.

    - Warning: For those who haven't seen a naked person yet, please
try to see one online para murag dili mo ignoy during the session.

    6. We can also take documentary photos but please respect the model's
privacy outside the session. So, please guys no uploads of the model
to sites like BoyBastos or similar sites. Should I find out that we
did something like this after the session, count me out next time.

We may have to ask Mark if we can actually take a photo of the model's
    face for documentation purposes.

I think we should take more photos of ourselves during the session
    not the model's.

    7. Lastly, let's keep the number of participants to 10. More than that,
and the model might charge more.

    ---

Now, before you throw in the towel because of the cost, may I suggest
    the following:

    1) Let's try it once. After the session, those who think it wasn't worth
it don't have to do it again. No refund lang ha.

    2) Those that think it's worth continuing, let's start a savings fund that
would finance the sessions. Downside is that we won't do it monthly
anymore, basig every two months na lang (350 + 300).

In any case, I need to ask for money in advance to minimize no-shows (this
scenario ba: "Oh, Carlo. I'm sorry I can't make it because...". Guess which
sucker pays for your share especially if I'm the only one who shows up?).

So, let's meet on Sunday, those who are interested, pay 750. I can schedule
the first session (hopefully not the last) when I have P 7,500 in total.

Now, kung karon pa lang, dili namo, ingna dayon ko para ma-update nako scope
    ug title ani na thread.

Sorry kung medyo business kaayo dating but we're talking about money and
live figure drawing sessions, which are both serious subjects.
