A music fan can't be a "rocker"? Does he have to play an instrument or be in a band?


How about this... Hilly Kristal .. loves Rock Music - owns the legendary CBGB club. He's not a musician (although I think he sang a bit) ... yet he's in the Rock and Roll hall of fame...
Now... is he a ROCKER or not?

definitely not a rocker
but a part of the rock n roll institution
i wont be surprised f jim marshal the inventor of marshall amps would b in the rock n roll hall of fame
his amps are used by countless musician and had defined the hard rock guitar sound
but hes not a rocker
hes an electronic guy

They are just part of those busy on-going production. They aren't supposed to be called rockers, as what i said on my last posts, and the said performers. As for Vinnie Colaiuta he would go to 'All-Around Performer', he does not have to be given a specific genre, like yeah I agree, he can go on any field and such.

CBGB("Country Bluegrass Blues") was originally intended to feature its namesake musical styles, but became legendary as a forum for American punk and punk-influenced bands like The Ramones, Television, The Dead Boys, The Dictators, Blondie, and Talking Heads. But recently Ramones is now officially in Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. 2002 was for Ramones first year of eligibility.

I remember watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on TV a few years ago and Hilly Kristal was up on stage - My mistake, just read that The Ramones invited him up on stage with them after being inducted.

You can't compare Jim Marshall to Hilly Krystal .... Hilly Kristal has a more direct influence to the rock and roll community. Mr Marshall just made amps who happens to be a favorite to some rock artists.

What qualifies for one to be labeled as a ROCKER? Kay para nako... a Rocker is simply a rock music enthusiast. Simply a label to classify and identify an individual.

PUNK - listens to punk music.. immersed to the punk culture
New Waver - someone who's into New Wave
Metalhead - Into metal - heavy, death, etc...
Rocker - rock music enthusiast (although rock music covers a lot of ground)
Emokid - someone who's into EMO and the things that's tagged to the label
etc....

WHAT AM I ?mUsician or rocker>?
simple lng...di ko musician ky wa ko insturments and i've never been exposed in concerts, bands or unsa pa mn nga tukar2x nga involve ko using instruments..
the 2nd option suits me coz though di ko sweto tanan genre pero open ears ghpon ko, cge gani ko paminaw NU107- kana nga station as in di bias - klase2x ang mga kanta dha, maheavy or di...

Punk is not rock Huh?? - You should know that Rock covers a lot of ground and PUNK is a sub-genre (I guess that's why they call it Punk Rock). By the way... CBGB hosted to a lot of bands, not solely to punk bands. Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, (to mention a few) etc... they've all played there.

I've also played in CBGB .... and we're not a punk band.
