    Default THE CEBU MASTERPLAN

    (Taken from the presentation)

President GMA promised to make Cebu an international industrial center, a tourism destination center as well as the maritime capital and hub of information technology in the country...

With these declarations, Cebu's business men immediately divides the plan to realize this vision. This is the The Cebu Master Plan.

These are the specific plans and visions:

    1. Metro Cebu Corridor
*** Envision to provide a corridor linking the Mandaue Reclation Area and Cebu and Mactan Boardwalk to Kawit Island and Talisay. When completed, this would make full use of the South Reclamation project to provide easy access and linking these areas.

    2. Tourism Corridor Centerpieces
*** Cebu and Mactan Boardwalk (In Mandaue: Ampi-theater, family theme park, Marina Yatch Club, Restaurants, and many others)
*** Cebu Heritage and Cultural Center (Malacanang of the South)
*** Kawit Island Tourism Facilities (Sea-plane landing area, an open-space concert hall, windsurfing facilities)

    3. Relocation of Carbon Public Market
    *** Market SRP properties
*** Complement the Cebu Village Tourism Project
    *** Decongest downtown Cebu City
*** Cater local buyers and tourists

    4. International Port and Cruise Ship Terminal
*** Develop future ecozones and IT parks in Cordova
*** Create a converging point for transportation systems
*** Interlink Cordova with the North to South LRT via underwater tunner

    5. Integrated Transport System
*** LRT connecting to the Mactan Internation Airport. From the airport, it will connect to the Cebu International Port and Cruise Terminal. From the terminal, it will then connect to the Metro Cebu Tourism Corridor. The main terminal will be located beside SM City Cebu, and will connect to the North Coastal Road Project and to the South Reclamation Project

    6. Cable Car System
*** Runs from the foot of Nivel Hills in Lahug going to Tops

    7. TEZ (Tourism Eco Zone)
*** Part of Punta Engano to become the Toursm Eco Zone (variety of hotels, theme parks, public pool, hanging bridge, shopping centers, restaurants, and other tourist attractions)

Too good to be true. Its like creating an oasis in a desert.

My point is unless, the entire Philippine economy will improve, you cannot realize this grandiose plan.

I mean for business to thrive, there should be a demand. Granting you put all these facilities. Who will patronize them? People dont have money and their earning capacity is only enough for food and basic necessities.

Cebu cannot do it all alone. It has to synchronize its development with the rest of the country.

i hope you realise that there will be nobody visiting if there is nothing to see. don't worry about those who don't have the money. investors are not really interested in those who don't want to spend.

good quality comes with a price. remember that

I see a missing link here. are there plans for new and expanded zones designated for residential use? mass transit should be the key that connects people to easy commute and diversify our means of transportation (for people living within the metro Cebu area. also, think of people living around Minglanilla, Naga (south) and Consolacion and Liloan (north) that have access to commuter rail. i think it is a valid argument if we what to support a population over 5 million. i mean its surely nice to all of this development that will integrate with sustainable population growth.

The way I see it, the mapping is not really geared towards Manila structure and set up if that is what we are afraid of but rather eyeing on making Cebu a mini HK or Singapore based on how it is presented which is why the government is putting more emphasis on infrastructure and transporation, the LRT, cable system, boardwalk similar to Spore esplanade. This is interesting as we definitely needs to see a masterplan for specific knowledge. The question whether it will be realized we cannot answer and doesnt rest on our shoulder. But for us Cebuano isnt it great that finally a President of the Philippines has paid attention to our lovely Metropolis? Its about time for CEBU and so lets support this aitte...

It takes positive spirit guys, so whats if it takes 10years for full completion if it may...If its for Cebu then its good!

hmm, i've been in cebu for the past 8 years helping develop and establish a 5-star international hotel on mactan.... we've finally overcome most of the obstacles, and myself, along with the other directors, are slowly breathing a sigh of relief (and hoping nothing bad happens during the ASEAN)...

In that span of time, i've seen and heard, and come in contact with so many other developers and hotel chains that were in the process of planning or negotiating a hotel development in and around mactan, but so far I see zilch...

Be prepared to stretch your 10 years to 50, especially if the next president won't be as gung-ho about cebu as GMA is...

oh and, do you really think this is viable in the philippines---> "Interlink Cordova with the North to South LRT via underwater tunnel"? I'd be scared sh*tless to ride in that... heheheh
