go for the e5300 set up...nindot na i overclock then low power consumption pud...i am using e5200 and overclock it to 3.5ghz mura nako naa core2duo naka save pa ko sa set up...go for a g31 motherboard of gigabyte or asus bro instead of asrock...in the long run, you will be saving money for yourself. Lig on na sila na mobo ...

-like others said, if naa ka MONEY then go for INTEL.. Nya if sakto rang kwarta sa bulsa then go for AMD. Nya ang AMD pud ky less power consumption. nice keu. d keu kas kuryente. XD

To the thread starter, if this is your first time to assemble ur own pc, you should go for an INTEL processor, and an ASUS motherboard, IMHO.

A few months back I bought a used Asus Terminator P4 computer. Now Pentium 4 would be considered a low end processor. but many many years ago when I was editor in our college campus paper, i was running Adobe Pagemaker and Adobe Photoshop using a Pentium 2 and it was doing fine. So now I am very satisfied with my p4 running at 2.0 Ghrtz.

The only problem i have with my computer is that the mobo supports only ddr 333...wouldnt even run using a ddr1 400. it came with 2 256mb ddr333. it has no video graphics card since it only has pci slots and no AGP. trying to upgrade this computer seems a hopeless cause. and expensive. 1 gig ram of ddr 400 costs 2,400 in Gaisano Interpace. At that price you can already get 2gig of ddr2 or ddr3. And a 1Gig ddr 333 costs around 3 to 3.5K. You can already get a new mobo or processor at that price. And a PCI videocard? Forget it. All video cards available out there are PCIE, and rarely, AGP.
(by the way, if there's anyone out there with a PCI videocard that's in working condition, pm me.

I remedied my situation by removing one of the 256mb ram and replaced it with a 512mb ddr400. then i increased the shared memory to 64mb. now with this setup, i am typing this with mozilla web browser with other tabs open ( Facebook, yahoomail, youtube, and google). at the same time i am also playing a song on windows media player, windows explorer is open, skype, and plantz vs zombies in standby. and you like multitasking like me, and this sounds like something you might be doing most of the time, then Intel is for you.

it is widely accepted fact that intel is better with applications & multitasking than AMD, while AMD is better with games, especially the higher end of it. i am not an expert on that. i am just familiar with pentiums. Around 10 years ago when pentium 4 was released it already had a 400 MHz fsb. Actually it ran at 100MHz but it had a quad-pumped fsb. The AMD Athlon's double-pumped FSB was running at 200 MHz or 266 MHz at that time. Early on, Intel was already ahead in multiprocessing, so if multitasking is for you, you should go for INtel.

Finally, why Intel? Mac computers now use Intel processors. Enough said.

The only question is, which one: Intel Core i3, Core 2 Duo, or Dual Core?
