with the prevailing system of corruption, it cannot be denied that many people are gravitating towards the ideology.

when an organization paints a really bleak picture of reality, bleaker than what it really is, the next step is to justify 'martyrdom' and 'heroes who sacrifice their life for the movement'. (look up al-qaeda, and the martyrs brigade in palestine)

these martyr and heroes for the 'cause' sacrifice their lives and/or kill their 'peasant' counterparts who join the military to survive.

they are offered just one simplistic solution to a more complicated problem which requires a more sophisticated solution. the communists' solution is armed struggle.

Dont you think it is rather unfair to associate the "martyrdom" and "heroism" of Filipino communists to Al-Qaeda? For one thing, Al-Qaeda is clearly a terrorist organization, who happened to have a very conspicuous relationship with the United States of A. It is as if you're saying we, Filipinos should not patronize initiative and selfless acts of our brothers or we should snob what Bonifacio and Rizal did?

Ms. Free_thinker, I guess it would be much appropriate for you to compare the heroism of the terrorists to that of Mr. Enrile, a self-proclaimed hero of People Power 1, who, by the way, was like Marcos' right hand.

Ey, Mr. Flanker, you are entitiled to your opinion but I dont think communism is dead. It might not be THE solution but if your openminded and optmistic, It could be? (Who knows) Propaganda? YUP it is!... just as the Arroyo's Adminsitration preocuppation, busy tinkering with NBN, promoting TVskwela or whatever (Probably because SHE knows her constituents cannot afford to go to school, she figured that what little they have, they'd use to buy TV as they spend more time in their houses.). A waste of everything? I dont really understand that.

communism in the Philippines is a very complex subject. I dont know where to start and if I did, I would not know how to stop talking bout it. Because of the conservative environment the Filipinos are immersed in, WE find it more difficult to understand things that are considered unaceptable norms in the society, communism being one of them. In my experience, throughout my life I have been bombarded with negative preconception about communism through history books, media and the people around me which made me more inquisitive about the matter. I could go on and on, but it would really be of great help if you guys, specify the topic which youd like to be enlightened upon, and i would gladly answer with the information I have had compiled from my past theses.

communism in its simplistic meaning, is the abolition of private property. And it doesnt mean that the State owns everything. It means, the people of the world, comes to the understanding that no one owns anything and everything shared by all. A society wherein, there is no class, no overpricing, and no capitalist greed bleeding the people dry. People toil not for himself but for everyone in the community. and that's based on my readins.
