    don't judge the state of the country according to peso-dollar exchange rather the state of an average filipino worker. FK is right, bisan kinsa nga presidente pwede mu claim ani. "blah blah I've done this and that, bow before me...".

    front act rana ni gma para pogi points daw just like any other president threatened because of skeletons in the closet.

    nope, actually, I'm not talking specifically about GMA.and yeah, I'm no fan of any of our presidents either. GMA doesn't make the results but the government as one. a single mistake from one makes a bad name for the administration. hint: you might try observing the first gentleman too.

    you don't get our points coz you refuse to get the point. gets? all I can say is, don't get too blinded by the fact that the exchange rate is doing good. dugay nana na oust c GMA if she was careless like Erap however, wais c GMA and holds a firm grip on power(connections,military, pnp etc...) mao successful cia pirmi sa pag suppress. hmmm, ain't her declaration sa recent state of emergency a manifestation of martial law?? too much suppression. where did human rights go? blockades, pnp deployment, warrantless arrest too much. naniguro cguro?

    lastly, stick to the topic. OT na ka. na apil nasad ko.

    @springfield

    we could not really tell bay, coz we realy dont have substantial data that UP produces more NPA's compared to other universities and institution in the country. maybe people tend to derive into that conclusion, because UP students are known to be vigilant and critical.

    Poverty, injustice, feeling of hopelessness creates NPAs....Â* Probably the reason why we don't hear any insurgencies in Australia, or do we? Schools merely help forment the "idea".

    IMHO, reason why UP "creates" more '"leftists" is probably because of the segments of society where the students come from. While I am not "generalizing" that all of the UP students are poor cause certainly many of them are not, rich even, many of them being "scholars" (again, Im not implying that all scholars are poor) comes from the marginal sectors of our society. Â*Thats why many of the"idealist" products of UP, who have lots of feeling of grievances against the government or society, feelings of hopelessness, injustice ends up "going to the hills" or become teachers of UP (hehehehe) to fight for their cause.Â* From what I heard, some professors of UP does exploit this situation. Lets not also forget that many students of UP already have this "instilled notion" that UP is the school for "activists" even prior to enrolling in the school.Â* What do they end up when they become a UP student? An activist.

    While we are on this,Â* lets compare UP to another school. Because Sir Springfield already mentioned Ateneo, lets compare UP to Ateneo.

    I do not believe the idea that Ateneo, being a Jesuit is school, is not producing "idealists" as much as UP. Remember Jesuits Schools are known to produce great thinkers and idealists throughout history (worldwide not only the Philippines) i.e, Voltaire (father of enlightenment), Fidel Castro, Rene Descartes, etc... Lets not forget our country's most notable heroes come from Ateneo or other Jesuit Schools like Jose Rizal, Ninoy Aquiño, Juan Luna, Antonia Luna, Tommy Osmeña (Sacred Heart and Xavier U). The thing with Ateneo is its school population. Ateneo is known to have the "may kaya" people in its roster of students, not all but quite a few. Â*The Lopezes, the Cojuangcos, the Osmeñas, the coño boys, etc. Â*Many of their "idealists" ends up running their family's business or going abroad for further studying. Â*They do have a lot to lose if they "go to the hills". Probably the way they are brought up or they are used Â*to "getting what they wanted", if these people have grievances towards the government, they dont go running to the hills, they "demand" it upfront from the government and many of them were sent to prison (Eugenio Lopez III, Sergio Osmeña III, Ninoy Aquiño, Max Soliven, etc. although they end up running to a much better place than the hills, the United States). Or many of them "fight the system" within the system, or joining the system and change it from within like what Gloria Arroyo is doing (kuno). Gloria Arroyo also comes from notable Jesuit institutions, Georgetown University (where she was the classmate of Bill Clinton) and Ateneo.

    Probaly this also goes with La Salle, San Beda, AMA, UC, UV, CIT, Bohol Institute of Technology, Â*Urot... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Â*Yeah UP does not have the monopoly of "leftist ideals" but the probable reason why so many come from that school is as stated above.

    Note: I am not starting to start a flame war here because there is no point arguing which school is better. One school has one stronger point than the other school and Vice Versa. It really depends on the person who is being "molded" and what he does with his education. You can come from the BEST SCHOOL IN THE WORLDÂ* but if you are as dumb as a post (yeah smart people can be dumb too), wala lang gihapon kay padulngan. Its really depends on the application of things learned. Arguing about schools is for "insecure" people, who have a little pee-pee, who can get a little boost of self-esteem because "I came from this school".

    I do not come from either of these schools although I know many people who does. This is just my opinion and yes there are exceptions to the rule, lots of them.
