they always pair a non-compete clause with a confidentiality clause. i am comfortable with a confidentiality clause. the non-compete clause acts as a double safeguard to the confidentiality clause to PREVENT spilling out your previous employer's beans. But hey didn't they ever realize that a person can still do that even if the competitor won't officially hire him as a regular employee and still pay the snitch? i believe that a confidentiality clause will hold even without the non-compete clause.
these shrewd companies are just after their OWN security by putting a person on a tight leash without considering each individual's personal financial stability & welfare.
