JAN-JAN was “disappointed” and “dismayed” with the results of the investigation of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center’s committee on the conduct of its medical team during his surgery.
He appealed to the hospital administrators to be honest.
He said the results of the investigation gave him “more reason” to file civil action for damages not only against the medical team who attended to him but also against the hospital for “not telling the whole truth.”
His request to have the names of the medical team disclosed was not granted.
“Bati ilang gibuhat. Wala sila nisulti sa tinuod. Final na akong decision mupasaka og kaso. Wala na’y atrasay. Mu-atras ko, samot man ang uwaw. Daghan man pud ni suporta,” Jan-Jan said, identifying a certain Dr. Arias as one of those who should be held liable (They did an injustice. They withheld the truth. I will file a case against them. I will no longer hold back. It will be more shameful to do so. I have a lot of support on my side).

^ I hope Jan-Jan and his lawyer stands firm with their decision to file a civil case against the other parties.

bradderr, bsan naa pa na sa akong atubangan ang video all the time, wa koy pakialam bsta buhaton nako ang angay nkong buhaton. so what if the video sells hotcakes? what im taking is about my own reputation as a med profession abroad. of course i would feel remorse on what happened to the patient ug sa mga tao ilang na apektahan. pero i have my own job to do. so be it kung makatag na, let the worst come if thats what you think. if mga puti tries to belittle me by mentioning that sotto incident, as a filipino i would humble down to 'em about that mistake but as med professional in front of their GOD DAMNED face, id just head up as if i say i can still do an excellent job. AND THIS SHOULD BE OUR ATTITUDE! dli ta moapil ug ti orok, para ka2 lng nga kaso! [br]_________________________________________________
you can continue your cat fight later but let me stress a point,
Johnny22aa:
we won't know the exact impact of this "VSMMC issue" in the global medical field until we hear from you or your fellow healthcare providers firsthand job-hunting experience in the future. you're right, it doesn't matter "even if this video plays in front of you all day long". of course it won't matter as much to you because you are "a nurse" and it's not in your job description to hire one. that's an HR's or hospital admin's job to hire one. got the point?
common sense tells me it matters greatly if it plays all day long in front of hospital HR people all over the world, those same people who gets to decide who to hire and not hire. see the difference? let me ask you again, does it matter now?
you can say: "wa koy pakialam bsta buhaton nako ang angay nkong buhaton" or "kung naa nata sa US, i prove nato nga we are world class" over and over again but what if you or any nurse won't get hired in the US because of either the "nursing board exam issue" or "VSMMC Issue"? how can you show your world-class qualities then if that's the case? mind you, working in Manila all your life is not "world-class".
see? you have to get hired in the US first before you can show them what you can do. so for now, just wait until "YOU GET HIRED" before opening your yap about showing "mga puti" what you can do. don't start getting cocky as if it's guaranteed you'll get hired 100% in the US, UK or any other country for that matter in the days to come. there are a lot of obstacles in that direction even before both issues came about. it seems to me that you're already counting the chicks before the eggs are hatched.
sometimes being humble and just doing your best without mentioning it would be appreciated more by people in my opinion.
it's true that Filipino nurses BEFORE didn't encounter problems when they applied abroad but that changed right after the "nursing exam issue of 2006". even if 90% of future medical field applicants get hired abroad without any hassle but having the rest (10%) running into some problems relating to what ranZter shared then IT IS STILL A BIG IMPACT no matter how you play spin doctor with this issue.
now you have two more negative issues hanging over your head aside from the existing hurdles that a medical practitioner should overcome when applying for medical jobs abroad. just do the math.
Shut Up! Let your GAME do the talking!
hoi ayaw mo pag-away.. hahaha. ang topic dili para inyo... kundi pra sa kadtong VSMMC peeps involved.
on my point of view, maayo dyud nga wala to nitan-aw ug nag video most of all.. kay lisod na tong naa uyab nga visa... i mean.. nurses.. ahehehehe. dako na pud nang MINUS sa nurses nato deri.
Observations
Madarieta, in a dyLA interview, raised some good points on the issue:
One, that the medical team's choice of the operating room instead of the emergency room for the operation was correct because it allowed better control of the situation.
Two, that there seems to be an effort to protect the identity of the patient during the videotaping, as the footage did not show the face of the person being operated on.
Three, that it looks like those allowed to watch the operation were only medical people and their presence was not surprising considering the unique nature of the case.
Four, that there have been instances when members of a medical team doing the operation clap their hands for a job well done and for saving another patient's life.
Madarieta was, of course, not preempting the result of the investigation conducted by Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) officials that DOH 7 will review.
VSMMC was supposed to hold a press conference on the matter yesterday.
