.. exactly. when there's a stormy weather you'd expect prices of fishes to sky-rocket. Same as to anything, when it's in demand, the businessmen tend to make prices a bit higher. Like in the Asean Summit, foreigners who would come to Cebu will have no choice but to accept the slight increase of hotel rates coz to be honest, where would they live?? Pension houses?? hehe

.. yeah, media has jumped the bandwagon of the Asean Summit hype, anything that has the Asean Summit tag sells. Another example of media-hogging is Paquiao.

.. absolutely, who would want to invest in a City which is dying and somber. The government of Cebu is trying it's best to impress investors.

.. It's like courting a girl, one must look presentable, don the finest clothes, put on perfumes, buy flowers and chocolates and dine-out at fancy restaurants just to make an impression on the girl.

Guys, the question about the CICC being finished or not is already MOOT and ACADEMIC...

Only 10% of the meetings will take place in the CICC... 90% will be at the Shang... (can't name the source...)

i am in the hotel business for years and things like these are just normal. it is not "pangwarta at all" , price gouging, or whatever you call it. just like anything else in the market when in demand prices goes up, hotels are no different. where i am at it can be $75usd in the winter to 150 in the summer then if something is going on it could up to 200 or more. the less availabilility we have the higher the rate will be. that's just how ahotel business is wherever you are in the world. you better know the ins and outs of the business first before you say it is a pangwarta.

The term " pangwarta " is far fetch because mawalay SUMMIT or naa , mangwarta man gihapon ang negosyo through its products businesswise . The very reason why prices skyrocket because of the SUMMIT is the supply and demand .

The very same concept would happen if the venue was SIngapore , INdonesia or Thailand etc . Basin ang echange rate will skyrocket too , good for us bad for you .
