Bye comrades and socialists. Hi uncle Sam!

1 moy pinakaimportante. German Idealogy, Theses on FeuerBach, and other writings nya. Ang communist manifesto kay mabaw ra kaayo nga basahon kung gusto nimo sabton si Marx.

Marx is not dead. Thought Soviet Russia and China is now embracing Capitalism, Marx is not dead. Even though obsolete na ang prinsipyo nga gigamit sa mga Kommunistang rebelde dinhi, my opinion of course, Marx is not dead.

Jean-Paul Sartre is influenced by Marx. And to name a few Marxist: Franz Fanon, whose book "the wretched of the poor" is read by pentagon staffs to administer the Iraq situation, Paulo Freire "Pedagogy of the Oppresed", Gustavo Gutierrez "Theology of Liberation" One of Europe's top intellectual, Jurgen Habermas is a neo-marxist. The Structuralists borrowed the entire structuralist method from Marx. Max Weber also has tinge of Marxism. Famous names, all marxists.

When one talks about liberation, one definitely talks about Marxism. The only thing the US can do to liberate us, is to leave us alone, by doing so, they liberate us from their own hands.

    cheers!

if you agree, then why not go the whole nine yards to maximize and reap all the benefits? it's the same principle, IMO.

I guess to retain some sort of autonomy siguro. Like Puerto Rico, people enjoy certain advantages that come with being a commonwealth/territory (competitive wages, comparable standard of living), but at the same time, also retain an identity separate from "mainstream" America...

don't you think that is being double-standard? one can still retain their identity as people and culture even if they belong to mainstream america, e.g. hawaii, alaska, new orleans, indian reservations, etc.

that's the reason why Uncle Sam never made us into a US territory or state because they are not stupid. Even without making us into one, they know they can exploit our human and natural resources all the same so there is no point really.

^I call it an arrangement that is beneficial to both parties. The Phils has more leeway to "self-govern", more than if it were a state, and the US won't have to spend as much to support us. We used to be a US commonwealth, I just think we should become one again.

.. the one thing i can remember is Quezon's almighty line, correct me if i'm not that accurate:

i'd rather see the philippines run like hell by filipinos than being run like heaven by the americans

.. well, here it is. Hell on Earth. It was during his reign as president that the USA offered us to be part of their country, but the PRIDE of the filipinos prevailed. hahayz. We can't even define our true identity as a filipino, we can't even define what our one-true-culture is. I'm not being a pro coz it's the easier way out for the Philippines problems but at least it can bring in a lot of opportunities.
