Budgerigar is the real name of the type of parakeet we usually see in the pet shop but people usually call them lovebirds because of their loving nature.
Through selective breeding, early european aviculturist improve the breed according to their show standard: bigger body, bigger head, bigger and balance throat spots that made them look "grumpy" thus, the birth of English Budgies.
For easy reference, Manila breeders call the regular budgerigars as Parakeet or Keet and the Show-Type Budgies as English Budgies, Budgie or EB for short.
