    it would be better to go there directly.
    the training usually starts at 5pm everyday but some would practice as early as 3pm. If you are working and if you are not available at that time, you can arrange for a different session.

    1933 –

    1934 –

    The Tydings-McDuffic Act instituted a commonwealth government and promised complete independence by 1944.

    1935 –

    Under a new constitution, Manuel Luis Quezon was elected as the first internationally recognized president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines. The archipelago remained a commonwealth of the United States until the onset of World War II.

    15 Nov: Manuel Luis Quezon becomes the 2nd President of the Philippines. He served his term until 1 August 1944.

    Passage of the National Defense Act. National defense suddenly became the most critical issue facing the Filipino people. In Washington, President Franklin Roosevelt approved creation of the Philippine Commonwealth as an autonomous transitional government with a 10-year timetable to full independence. After his inauguration in November, President Manuel Quezon was suddenly faced with the problem of building a national army. The U.S. had decided to give up its military bases after independence. Japan was on the march in China. The threat of invasion was very real.

    Under the National Defense Act of 1935, President Quezon made mobilization his top priority and committed a quarter of the budget to building a national army that would, by independence in 1945, have ten thousand regular soldiers backed by reserves of four hundred thousand.

    1936 –

    Filipino alumni from the U.S. service academies became the core cadre that established the PMA.

    The Philippine Army began mobilization and training the ROTC.

    With the help of U.S. Advisors, President Quezon opened the new Philippine Military Academy with an entering class of 120 cadets and a four-year curriculum modeled in every detail, upon West Point.

    1937 –

    The Maestro founded and organized the Lightning Arnis Club in Mambusao, Capiz.

    Every Filipino male over six was required to attend “Preparatory Military Training”.

    1938 –

    The local police force known as the Philippine Constabulary, which was organized by Henry T. Allen to facilitate peace in the archipelago, achieved national enforcement.

    1939 –

    The six Cañete brothers joined Doce Pares. With differences in political view, Bacon left and founded the Balintawak Self-Defense Club; Eulogio “Euling” Cañete became the new Doce Pares president.

    The Philippine Army takes direct control of all ROTC units. They reformed the curriculum and extended the program to a total of thirty-three colleges, making them its main source of officers by the outbreak of the war.
