How did you know that P10 is not acceptable -- where you able to investigate why we have a ten-peso difference? or did u just theorize that it's just "price manipulation."?

There's a dictum in law that says: "the burden of proof lies upon the one who alleges..." if price manipulation you say is the reason, where's the proof?

    look at the computation:

Pila man ang $1 to peso pag 11/20/07

    ma compute na nimo.....

    1 US gallon = 3.785 liters.

    11/20/07

NewYork Spot Price is $2.5075 per Gallon for Gasoline

    $2.5075 x 46 Pesos = 115.345 pesos per gallon. if in liters 115.345 / 3.785 = 30.48 pesos per liter.

Even if you ADD 12% VAT it will come out 34.xx its way cheaper than 44.xx per liter price in Cebu City

Review the math if you would like

    Don't worry...

The proof is in the pudding.... We pay DIESEL way below the PRICE in the streets.... We don't get it from any of the 3 Oil companies.

That is proof enough. I can't post the price. That is confidential.

Thats what I am trying to do...
You can cite any economic book you like... THIS IS CLEARLY AN ANOMALY

MAKE THEM AWARE.... $1 is approaching 41 aleady.....

This is TOO MUCH... The computations are CLEARLY SHOWING IT.

Ajol... it's all known that oil companies are the worst scam ... but we can't leave w/out them since we need their

I think the government should look into this. I've heard there are transport groups planning to have hike because of increasing oil prices. Well, the government agencies concerned should see to it that oil companies are overpricing.

It's just sad that when the dollar weakens, it would have been good for us, if only the price of oil didn't shoot up as high as that.

i believe we have to dig the issue further rather than SPECULATE about "price manipulation." There were independent studies presented in the past about why RP pump prices are high and many of those reasons were validated/accepted by noted consumer groups. I have presented those reasons early in the thread and I think we have to keep an open mind about those realities than make sweeping statements of manipulation or computations that DO NOT amount to real prices.

I do agree that we have a "cartel-like" oil industry here...but I think there are far more worse cartel which is the OPEC in that I think we're barking on the small fries here.

We would have "fair" prices of fuel had President Carter's alternative energy program been given due course - but unfortunately it was abandoned by the Reagan administration. Today, we know of other issues aside from its impact to consumers like global warming and ecological intrusion at oil exploration sites.

Our advocacy today should be personal like change of habits -- by reducing our dependence on fossil fuel just like in Cuba.

During the 90s when Cuba was abandoned by the Soviet Union, there supply of oil was drastically cut to 90% but Cuba was able to withstand such test by being able to use alternative energy such as Solar panels. It is the only country in the world today that uses the least oil to run its economy.

The fight cannot be won if we bleed our throats to shout against the evil cartel - we must learn to change our ways to reduce our dependence on this finite source. why dont you try walking, biking, carpooling, take a jeepney...that way we help in that effort at least.

The reason you PRESENTED at best can NOT ACCOUNT for the HUGE difference...

in terms of salary.... a petroleum engineer in singapore or the USA will cost more...
in terms of transport.... yes its expensive moving goods inter-island.... it would add 1-2 pesos per liter.
in terms of refining capacity.... yes we have small refineries.... you can add 2 pesos per liter for that....

it still won't reach 10 pesos per liter

brad...ur speculating lage...you assume and trust ur computation that it is the EXACT FORMULA...and you assume that you only need to add P2/liter per for the transport...how/where did u get these numbers? what about scale of purchase, how can you factor that?

your formula is very misleading kay you account those cost items based on WHAT YOU THINK...NOT REAL PRICES.
