In terms of power and ride, the Montero is superior to the Fort. But in terms of reliability, resale value and appeal, i find the Fort to be on the advantage.

to me, maybe these were the case of a panicked driver stepping on the accelerator rather than the brakes. there were few peeps from tsikot who did a test by flooring the gas pedal from a stand-still and stepping the brakes with the left foot right after. according to them, the truck did not even move at all.
maybe, but just maybe this is how it happenned.
- driver step on the gas, thinking it was a brake on a stick shift vehicle
- turn on the engine at Park mode
- shift the lever to Drive while the gas is floored, lol
non-vgt monteros are slow on quick start so there should be enough time to react by stepping the brakes or pulling the hand brakes on.
Here in QATAR, Montero is called (PAJERO SPORT) with V6 3.5 Engine, bit wide and taller than the philippine version. It's suspension is smoother than TOYOTA Fortuner, and much comfortable. We tried to race my Pajero Sport againts Toyota Fortuner V6 4.0 and and Toyota can not outran the Pajero V6 3.5. I can go around the round about up to 80KM/h while the Fortuner feels like it will roll over by 60KM/h and slides even the Toyota Prado V6 4.0 of my sister. I can do 360 power turn with my Pajero Sport easy from stop compare to Toyota Fortuner V6 4.0. Accurate in corner and very good in breaking. My Qatari Friends also tried comparing the PAJERO 2010 V6 3.8 vs Nissan Patrol V8 4.8 manual and the Nissan can not outran the Pajero in a straight line.
As per my experience here..Mitsubishi is the best for me..
and for the record, Mitsubishi Pajero and Mitsubishi Evolution has won multiple championships in DAKAR RALLY and WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP...
Peace

when i bought mine in 2009, my foremost consideration was the price and the ride... its been three years since and my monty has yet to give me any major problem... one satisfied owner here.![]()
All i can say about the fortuner is it's more spacious than the montero..
Montero is really just for 7 person..
Fortuner can fit up to 9 considering the size of the person..
mas nindot ang fortuner kay nka turbo...naa dyon inig tamak sa gas...ksog mn ghapon ang montero pro naa lng delay compare sa fortuner...
I don't believe fortuner is more spacious than montero. In terms of power and comfort during a ride layo ra kaau ang fortuner sa montero. Especially now with new turbo, VGT, the same with Everest, power of 178 hp and torque of 400 N.m, in 2.5L engine category murag moprevail gyud ang montero sa iyang level. Speed, Power and Comfort - Montero.
labi na sa 4x2 version layo ra kaayo ang fortuner.
Fortuner 4x2 = 102hp
Montero 4x2 (non-VGT) = 136hp
Montero 4x2 (VGT) = 178 hp
2007 Fortuner 4x4 owner here.. So far, no complaints ko sa amu unit. Regarding sa space, mas daku-an ko sa Fort compared to Montero. My brother's bro-in-law and our contractor, both owned a montero sport, agreed na mas daku-an sila sa space sa Fort than their montero's.
In terms of ride comfort, so far wala'y problema. If 3 or 4 passengers, comfy kaayu siya coz its built as a people carrier. If driver and 1 passenger lang, its a bit bumpy but its tolerable naman. Handling and grip, mas ganahan ko sa fort compared sa montero.
My advice to other Fort owners, ilisi inyu hangin sa ligid to Nitrogen.. I changed mine yesterday and i noticed a big difference sa grip and ride comfort. Sa FC niya, ako pa test if naa ba significant changes..
murag ganahan rako sa montero kay mitsubishi adventure man ako service ron.
