Default Re: HOW TO BE FLUENT IN ENGLISH

i am quiet fleunt in english..

because when i was 3, i started listening to this tape everyday..
it teaches me to pronounce properly letters to simple words..

my mom taught me how to orate when i was 5..

i started delivering oratorical peices when i was 6..

so the conclusion is, I learned to read and pronounce words properly through the my mom..
because she bought that cassette tape for me..and after the tape, she trained me to enhance my skill..

in high school, we were forced to speak english anywhere in school..

Default How to be fluent in English? THINK IN ENGLISH

It is true that you really need to think in English. Not just READ and WATCH TV. You have to practice speaking it CONSTANTLY. Find a person who will practice with you...someone who IS NOT learning too. That person should be able to correct you immediately if you make a mistake.

I remember when I was in college, a friend of mine (Angelo) wanted to court another friend of mine (Lissa), who came from a "spokenin-dollar" family. He knew the basics. But lacked the practice. So he taught me how to talk in fluent (and accentless Tagalog) and I helped him with his English. We both benefitted greatly.

The thing is...if you are wishing to work in the call center environment...you really have to make English your lingua franca for a while to get the hang of being able to QUICKLY respond in English if being addressed by someone.

Sadly, the advent of text messaging has even worsened our already-bad english-speaking ability. Now people who know how to speak in straight English...sometimes find themselves automatically writing in txt-manner. Even if they have a fully-functional QWERTY keyboard in front of them. (By the way...my cel phone is dictionary-enabled and that is what I use. Ask those who get to text me that I normally answer in straight English without the shortcuts.)

And as to reading materials..pick the ones that will help build your vocabulary the most. Broadsheets... magazines from SUMMIT publications (?)...READERS' DIGEST (This single publication I really credit for my family knowing how to speak good English.). Trashy novels do not normally help. They are good entertainment...but you will benefit more with the aforementioned publications. (Sorry ha...really have to mention this...ANG SUNSTAR DI MAGANDA ANG EDITING. You won't benefit there either.)

Good luck to all (especially to the one who posted this thread) who want to learn good English. By the way... Angelo became a doctor and married into a family of doctors. He and Lissa now have two sons who speak more fluent English than the dad. hahahahahah.

As my father always said.... PROPER PRACTICE and PREPARATION PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE
