Why should I have to? I never said Rodriguez deserves the award more, I said Tomas didn't win, Rodriguez did. You're the one who was insisting Tomas deserves it more, so I asked you why you think so.

You then posted some drivel from a biased website about Tomas. You said he needed to "excel in the business world" to be a good manager for Cebu. Well, did Tomas excel? The website claims Tomas was a VP in some company in the US before he came to Cebu. Then how come he had to live with his sister until she kicked him out after they had some argument? What kind of Mickey-mouse company was he VP of, that he couldn't afford his own house?
When he preferred to live with his sister, does that mean he can't afford a house?..whatever the reason behind the issue was something TOMAS or someone from his family can only answer and seems it was a personal matter already..now, there was this news item that Chief Justice Hilario Davide prefers to ride a taxi cab on his way to work, does that mean he can't AFFORD a car?

    Well, did Tomas excel?

you are always insisting that TOMAS did not excel well because the achievements i had posted comes from a bias site..if you are really doubtful about the CREDIBILITY of that site then why don't yu disprove every write-ups/claims found on that article..like, TOMAS was not ever the VP of Seros Inc, TOMAS did not won the TOYM award, TOMAS was not the 2002 Outstanding mayor of the Phil..etc..etc..

Also remember that incident where he kicked the BBQ vendor? Some "outstanding mayor" indeed you have there.
did he kicked the vendor with no apparent reason at all?

Again, no one has to prove Mayor Rodriguez deserves the award more than Tomas. Mayor Rodriguez won the award, he deserves congratulations, not comparisons with some hardheaded, arrogant, drunkard-with-a-huge-potbelly mayor.
well KUDOS to mayor Rodriguez for putting the Phil. in the world map!...i was only asking on the previous post why TOMAS was not even included in the list of candidates, when what he did to Cebu city was more commendable than what Rodriguez did to Pampanga...and when talking about profiles, Osmena excels better than Rodriguez..

maybe you only have gutted feelings toward TOMAS for being prejudice toward him..or a Garcia supporter perhaps?

Tomas closure of SRP is justifiable since some phase of the project is not yet finish and that SRP is not yet earning/generating money in order to handle maintenance expenses...there were reports that some powerline cables were stolen, vandalism, etc..now who will handle the expenses, the TALISAY govt?

Tomas couldn't afford his own house, period. Back then, he refused to answer questions about his net worth or his employment in the US, because he had none. He was a jobless bum in the US! Everyone "in the know" knew that... I guess you were too young back then to remember.

I don't have to disprove anything. Tomas is not and never was the topic in this thread, so his achievements are irrelevant. The only reason he's even mentioned here is that you, Mr. Tomas fan, sour-graped about him not winning the award, and insisting that he deserves it more than Mayor Rodriguez. If you want to discuss your Tomas' achievements... start your own thread and entitle it "Tomas - he should have been on the list! Waaa!"

did he kicked the vendor with no apparent reason at all?
Yes, he kicked him for no reason at all, except that the vendor was just a poor fellow trying to earn a living in an area Darth Tomas had deemed to be vendor-free. Tomas is very arrogant with people he feels are lower in stature than him, even barangay captains and Presidential assistants. What more with just a BBQ vendor?

What a hypocrite you are. Only now congratulating Mayor Rodriguez after saying Tomas deserves to be on the list more than him because you think Tomas has better achievements/profile.

maybe you only have gutted feelings toward TOMAS for being prejudice toward him..or a Garcia supporter perhaps?
I am prejudiced towards arrogant, hardheaded pricks. Aren't you? And what makes you think I'm a Garcia supporter? Just because I'm anti-Tomas, makes me pro-Garcia? The world is not populated only by pro-Tomas and pro-Garcias you know. Lots of people dislike them both, and I'm one of them. You do remember that they used to be allies right? Or are you too young to remember that?

if the candidates needs to be nominated, then i think Osmeña was not nominated, i-nominate siya next year bai, huwat lang next year.

But if they select the candidates themselves, then Osmeña did not pass their standards.

Well to you Tomas is better, but to them he is not.

was it really the reason why he ordered it closed or you were just made to believe that it was the reason?

if it was not finish and they were concern about security, then why did they open it in the first place only to be close when Gullas claim a part of it.

OT: This argument is way too off topic. Create a new topic for this one. Thanks.

bfg9000: Yes, i am a supporter of Tomas and No, it doesn't bother me at all that he is not selected.

You sound like you are becoming of what you hate.

were you and these "everyone-in-the-know" a confidant of TOMAS or just a plain gossipmongers in uptown coffee shops?..how did a jobless bum able to campaign and eventually won the 1988 mayoralty race then?

the only reason why this thread come this far in the first place was when you made comment on my querry..i think it was the word "OUTSTANDING" that made you fall in your seat..to make things clear, i am saying that TOMAS is the outstanding mayor of the Phils. since he once earned that distinction back in 2002 and that mayor Rodrigues had not achieved that award ever since he became a politician of this country...

did he kicked the vendor with no apparent reason at all?
Yes, he kicked him for no reason at all, except that the vendor was just a poor fellow trying to earn a living in an area Darth Tomas had deemed to be vendor-free. Tomas is very arrogant with people he feels are lower in stature than him, even barangay captains and Presidential assistants. What more with just a BBQ vendor?can yu provide a news article stating TOMAS kicked a bbq vendor for no apparent reason..as far as i cud remember t'was his uncle Jing2x who was infamous of kicking/punching anybody for no reason.

oh..there was a bit of pun when i wrote that commendation..in the first place that award giving body is a joke since they choose a candidate thru ONLINE NOMINATION/VOTING..they did not emphasize really on the achievements and profiles of their choosen candidate..perhaps a popularity contest ?..cheers to mayor Rodriguez and to a poor whiner like you!

I am prejudiced towards arrogant, hardheaded pricks. Aren't you? And what makes you think I'm a Garcia supporter? Just because I'm anti-Tomas, makes me pro-Garcia? yeah..hard-headed, arrogant prick according to his adversaries..but an OUTSTANDING mayor to some of the people who notice what he has done to cebu city.

lolz..well to give u a heads-up on the mechanics of this so-called worlds best mayor..first you have to nominate a candidate thru their website..then from a short list of nominees, you have to nominate again yur favorite/own mayor on that list...blah blah..

maybe TOMAS did not won on this kind of competition because he ain't popular in the first place and not for his being OUTSTANDING?..and that mayor Rodriguez is the Phils. Mr. POPULARITY MAYOR?

Between January and May each year, the worldwide public is invited to nominate mayors for the World Mayor Award via the City Mayors and World Mayor websites. While City Mayors accepts nominations of mayors from all types of cities, their supporters are asked to provide reasons for their choice. After the close of the nomination stage, the editors of City Mayors prepare a short list of mayors who go forward to the second round of the World Mayor contest. In 2005, the list of finalists included 65 mayors from The Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa.
