Thread: FIBA AMERICAS

Actually, Argentina is not really concerned about the FIBA Qualifiers. They're in a somewhat win-win situation in FIBA America with regards to making it to the Olympics:

1.) Most likely, USA is one of the two teams that would advance in this FIBA America tournament and the second team is still being up for grabs. Argentina and Brazil are most likely the two teams that will slug it out. Statistics tell me that Argentina will not go down lower than 5th in FIBA USA. If they end up 2nd, probably the highest any team can besides USA, they automatically make it to the Olympics.

2.) 3rd, 4th, and 5th placers in FIBA America will automatically join a somewhat world championships with other countries worldwide to determine the final 3 qualifiers in the Olympics. Most likely, if Argentina will fall in this tournament, Manu Ginobili, Fabricio Oberto and the rest will probably be present. There's no doubt Argentina can't make it better than 3rd if they've got this line-up.

It's certain that Ginobili and the rest will be present in the Olympics. Anyway, Argentina is a sure shot at the Olympics no matter what. For now, they're in a better situation. They're both undefeated along with USA. Who cares anyway if they lose against USA in the FIBA if they make it to the Olympics outright.

sakto jud na imo analysis yokam, what matters most to them is the Olympic Gold, but who knows they might also play for pride, so USA-Argentina matchup is still a game to look out for

Argentina - A team in and outside the court.

They share the same jar when thirsty after drills, they eat together, visit each others teammates family during special occasions, and I remember way back 2004 when they kiss each others cheeks in the locker room as they bagged the gold medal. That is called love. That is called passion. That is called chemistry.
Somebody might ask me, What are all those hugging and bonding has something to do this coming Olympics? Well, I guess the answer is in the United States of America's infamous motto we have ever known, "United We Stand".
If that motto are part of Team USA's basketball concept today, then my optimism is worth that this team knows what it takes to claim back the glory that is GOLD. Team USA deserve to win it all with the wide consideration that this country are the God of basketball. They are the reason why we love this sport. I dont appreciate the idea of having any team such as Argentine or Europian Five to be in the middle of spotlight when the smoke clears this 2008 Beijing Olympics. But then, if that happens, It could break my heart..

the game of basketball has evolved far beyond Dr. Naismith's concept, sadly in recent years, Americans weren't able to keep up with the pace when teams from around the world found the chink in their armor. it is heartbreaking to see them being dominated inside the hardcourt in a game they once were impossible to beat, they must move on and learn from the other teams as well if they are to reclaim their basketball glory..mura sad Philippine basketball story sa Asia sa?

USA has a good number of players whose skill level are way above than the rest. What made them a lot deadlier now is that they're incorporating their individual talents to a team oriented concept, spearheaded by the presence of veteran guard Jason Kidd and the leech-like defense played by Kobe Bryant.

I used to think that in order to beat USA, Luis Scola, Carlos Delfino and the rest of Argentina has to turn themselves into supermen. Now, being supermen won't be enough either, instead, they have to turn Argentina into a super team to match USA's excellent basketball.

Every basketball nerd on this planet loves how the americans play the game, that is why many countries are now so competitive and passionate coz it can't be denied that USA basketball is the yardstick and a source of inspiration to become good at it. I believe USA still dominates. Or may I say others are now just a step behind. Previous performances of team USA in world competitions is not a substantial reason to say their reign of supremacy has already ended. It was just a hard-ball message that they should be well prepared and never under estimate. Especially the FIBA rules. Glory days are near, dominance and respect will be reclaimed.
